Some Paladin questions

I've played the pally, deleted it, retried again, rinse & repeat. I would really like to play one and keep it. So I have some questions:

1: does the paladin have any way (other than a mount) of moving faster? Like the barbarians sprint, mage's tele, ranger's uh whatever it's called, rogues tuck and roll, etc.

2: I'm wanting to play a solo DPS holy knight. I have some healing so I can heal myself. But what do I need to do to wreck stuff? Melee holy knoght style. lol.

3: I know I want to spend my ability points in Int and Cha right?

4: Anything in particular I should look for in a companion? I have a black panther and a dire wolf. Both are purple.

5: Forgot what number 5 was. I'll get back to you. lol.

I'm playing a female Gith with racial bumps in Dex and Int if that matters.

1 - put points in dex for very small gain, choose marathon runner boon tier 2 iirc
2 - pally is heal or tank paragon, your not going to outshine most dps, power of course will up dps but your main task is to either hold agro or heal respectively
3 - cha and int for tank, heal uses wis and cha I think, don’t play heal much
    4 - go with a augment companion

If you are planning to play solo content only, the paladin can cruise through it all. Not as fast as dps builds but it does fine.

Stat wise, you want Int (damage boost) and Dex (crit severity and a boost to movement speed)

Otherwise, you can boost your movement speed using the Gladiator's Guile insignia bonus and the Fast Striding mount equip power. There is a better version of Fast Striding that includes bonus HP if you purchase any of the butterfly swarm mounts.

Companion should be augment, ideally. If running solo, it won't matter as much though. You get more effect from the Bonding Stones than the Augment effect. It will take a bit more effort to get your stats right but agaom, for solo play you aren't having to conform to other's expectations. The companions that actually dish out real damage tend to be expensive. The dire wolf is a lot more effective than the panther. The panther seems to take forever before it attacks. The dire wolf has useful control powers despite being a damage dealing pet.

For solo content, I often use Relentless Avenger (level 74 skill) to close the gap. Yes, I use an encounter for movement purpose.

I do the same. Even in group.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

That got me killed in group too. I was doing a ME in group. I use Relentless Avenger to an enemy on the bridge. Somebody stole the aggro (yes, I am a tank but I was further away and it was the first attack) and the enemy jumped to him. I ended up "fly" off the bridge ......

Used to get that many times over the years on rogues with Duelist Flurry. Someone knocks a mob off a cliff and I go with it. Once, a Flamestrike sent me into the ceiling of Cragmire Crypts. Another time, while running solo, a Cyclops Shaman teleported backward and pulled me into a pod plant.

In your case, you followed the enemy. In my case, I did not follow the enemy in mid air. I was slingshoted. :(
