HORRIBLE LAG ONLY ON THIS GAME!

the last few days i have been hearing someone in just about every group say they have really bad lag but today it started for me. I play other online games and they are not lagging so its something to do with cryptic servers. The lag is so bad i can barly walk in a strait line and half my abilitys keep reseting after i use them.

Reboot your comp. Reboot your router. At least weekly.

after a full shut down and reboot to pc and modem router i am still having massive lag. Right as i went to test it by joining a rtq my total comp locked up when loading the instance. It hardly ever does that but when it does its only in this game. I have a bran new 900$ rtx 2070 video card and a geat pc so its not my end. Again like the title said the lag is as far as i can tell only in neverwinter.

I play on PS4. My internet connection speed is over 200mbs. I live literally within a few miles of Cryptic HQ and since the last patch combat lag has become so unbearable that I am playing about 10% as much as I used to.

And it ONLY happens with NW. To put that in perspective, I also play Anthem (which is notorious for its lag) and it's smooth as butter. As is all the other MP or MMO games I play online via my PS4.

    There is a lag issue.

...and the servers are on the east coast.

If there was lag on the central servers everyone would lag. I play lag-free, so it is not a server problem.

It also is good that you have a lag-free connection over your local line to the first router with your ISP. Then you can exclude that from the possible problem list.

The problem is what happens at the ISPs router. The packets will be routed in many directions from that, and the route to each game can be different. So even you you got an excellent connection to game A, that does not mean your connection to game B is OK.

In game, type /netgraph 1 to see what roundtrip time(ping) you have. Everything below 200ms is generally ok.

The other factor besides ping is packet loss. You can have excellent ping yet high packet loss, which will totally wreck your experience.

It is easy to diagnose your connection, traceroute will tell you the way you are using through the network, ping will tell you roundtrip time and packet loss. (Note you need to execute those commands on YOUR PC towards a server with Cryptic). Google it to find instructions on how to use traceroute and ping.

If your network checks out OK the most likely culprit is your PC. Try upgrading all software etc. And make sure NO other programs are running when you try to run the game.

It is so easy for people to blame lag on the game.. but in reality the problem is often/mostly issues in the network or on the local PC.

In general, there are 3 different area for lag.
    1. client side (client machine (graphic card, other running program, ..), client network, ...)
    2. server side (server machine, server network)
    3. the network between client and server (client ISP, server ISP, routing between client ISP and server ISP).

If one does not experience any trouble to access internet, that eliminates (1).
If many do not have problem playing the game, that eliminates (2).
    Usually, it is about (3).

Took has the same problem. 13ms ping, good PC and card.
No lag on any other game except NWO.

Last night (after 3 load-disconnects) Took was the Rubberband man in LoMM.
(Apologies to the party, had to drop. It was unplayable).
