Level 70 artifact weapons vs level 80 leveling gear

So, according to the recommendations in game, it always says the artifact weapon is recommended, but it seems like I lose a ton of stats with the leveling weapons but gain damage. Which really is the better to use while farming for level 80 artifact weapons or waiting for the trade bar store to upgrade? Does this one vary by class/weapon?

    Artifact weapon (when fully opened) has 2 offensive slots + weapon slot and set bonus.
    I personally don't use the leveling weapon.

    The other thing to consider is, that for a large portion of what many people do in the game, your character is going to be scaled back to level 60-70 anyway. So having a weapon set that unlocks a couple extra small bonuses (set bonus, weapon mods, weapon enchancement slot) and stops at level 70 might actually be an advantage.

    I fitted out most of my characters with level 80 gear, but I'm starting to think that in a lot of the content I run I'd actually be better off with a level 70 set. Time to do some tests, I guess.

    Alabaster and Exalted Masterwork 3 sets scale to the same level in Dread Ring. Whether it is better to use an artifact set or standard weapon may vary depending on where you are. MW3 has a better set bonus for the most part, but probably not so much as to justify switching everything out.

    The Owlbear patch may change this, but it occurred to me that keeping old weapon sets with rank 8 or 9 enchants in them coild be easier that moving, if one wanted to use multiple sets.

    Well, that's the other problem, I do have a wizard, that has an orange orb, and a purple off hand, of the Vistani set. Of course, with a mod, I figure it's not worth it to level the off hand to orange because I should be getting the next set up, what ever it is. None of my other characters have close to orange for a weapon though.

    Use the non-artifact weapons over Vistani, especially if they aren't legendary.
