EDIT: for clarification, some questions were asking the same thing but worded differently (or some comments didn't actually have a question in them so we had to extrapolate) so 10 questions can be collapsed into 1. The ~40 questions does not indicate that we only see or believe there is that number related to a topic, but that is what we've compiled for today as part of stream planning.
Hey folks, we have gathered ~40 questions from this and other threads that are on topic for today. We also want to leave time for questions asked during the stream. We likely will not have time to address every question but we also plan on this being an ongoing conversation with the community.
I hope we are kept in the loop and that other issues are actually addressed because it isn't just the scaling that is killing my enthusiasm and desire to spend.
Ego etiam cupo recrari et amari diu post mortem meam I too wish to be recreated, and to be loved long after my death.
Dev's - not to be Captain Downer - but with all the current and past issues. Really you just need to ask yourself, what can you offer to attract and keep people playing a 6 year old game? We liked what we had. We certainly aren't here for the graphics or clean game play. I personally enjoyed building up my toons, tweaking feats and facerolling stuff.
Try to play a manycoin bank heist run with no healer or tank, where you have to split to 2 or 3 groups to defend each side, and a ton of mobs hit you/stun you and all you have to do is run away leaving the vault defend less or die.
The idea of having skirmishes (with no class requirements) and dungeons (with class requirements) grouped together is probably that it allows you to get queues popping quickly. Basically any class that is in short supply and is needed for the dungeons will go there, while the "leftovers" will be sent to skirmishes.
Now, this is fine for the easy skirmishes like Master of the hunt or Dread Legion, which can easily be done by any combination of players, but it is somewhat problematic for the harder content, like the Manycoins Vault. In fact, even a premade group may have problems there, but that's a separate issue.
The point is that it's better to take longer to shoot for a random queue with a healer and a tank, and make it viable, than shoot faster with no healer/tank, resulting to a failure. Also lemme tell you, the majority of player base is very poor in skills/gear, that even in easier skirmishes like ToDG, IG or PoM I've seen party wipe outs. And you may say, a wipe out in skirmish is not a big deal, but the gaming experience is bad, which is what matters at the end of the day.
The other day, I entered RIQ queue and got folly with 5 dps (included my toon). It was a nightmare. It took us 35 min to complete because all toons kept dying. At some point 1 dps rage quitted, then a healer entered the party and we finally completed the run. So, it's not only the manycoin bank skirmish that needs attention, for sure.
The bones of the new mod are good IMO. The playstyle still allows for feeling reasonably powerful but without 100% trivializing the benefit of paying attention in daily content. Some classes and paragons are in better places than others, of course.
Obviously many (many, many) things need to be further adjusted or outright fixed, but I'm one of those who believe the fundamental changes were good for the projected lifespan and health of the game. It's fine and understandable for other players to disagree, but the level of toxicity in this thread is ridiculous. If some players are so severely unhappy that they can't control their responses, maybe they should quit. We can't force the company to do anything, so we can either attempt to influence their decisions constructively through feedback or lock down our wallets and our discretionary time. Personal attacks and angry rants are a waste of time.
Well seems the HP boons aren't working either....I rebuilt my boons cause I have way to much crit and changed the crit boon to HP boon, still same HP....and I think crit value is same aswell....
Sometimes such changes seem to only take effect the next time you log in. It seems a bit....erratic, though.

Here is one thing I got from the discussion:
One of the main motivations for implementing scaling as "capping" is to "level the player field for PvP". Actually...that's fine. Many PvPers like to be judged and ranked based on their skill, and want a fair fight to see who is the best. Capping can actually work there.
BUT THIS IS WHY PvE PLAYERS GOT TOTALLY HAMSTERED OVER!
The motivation in PvE is totally different ... In PvE players are not competing against each other. We like to improve our characters through gear upgrades - and capping takes that away. Sorry, but I heard very little to convince me this game is heading in a direction I like.

if this is the case then can't they just aply the scaling to the pvp arena and leave everything else alone?
Well, the end is not even dignified, just two people talking past any serious question, like a bad comedy,,,
At the risk of sounding like an apologist, I think they stuck pretty closely to the stated purpose of the stream and came across as transparent. At worst, they simply didn't understand the context of a few of the questions.
If by serious question you mean ZAX or individual class changes, those are each huge discussion topics. I actually agreed with them that they needed their own dedicated discussion stream, and they made the best decision by not shoe-horning them into a stream about scaling.
We all have burning questions, but scaling is a broad topic, and I think more urgent based on the number of players who are reporting inordinate difficulty in areas where they previously didn't experience it. Much of it is people not having learned the new mod yet, but a lot of it is on the broader scaling issue.
Well i missed the video, but getting to see the comments in chat from it, this was exactly what i thought would happen. Scaling stays, but will be lowered a little.
God I can't wait till this hits the console and blows up even more in your team's face. I knew this would just be lip service, you're still not listening to your player base.
I normally agree that bringing out the pitchforks and wanting people fired is not the right thing, but starting to think that needs to happen here, or just move you guys over to MTG and get someone in who can fix this mess.

You mean the teaspoon shallow PVP with 1 game mode, 2 or 3 maps, and which hasn't evolved or ever really been balanced, like ever, and was clearly little more than a tacked on afterthought that 99.9% of the player base never cared for, wanted, or paid attention to...
Sweet Ao in a hamster suit tap dancing upon a cracker...why am I not surprised...

pvp should just be dropped from the game imo. pve should never be effected by things for pvp. EVER. there should be a totally different instance for pvp totally unaffecting pve.
if they try to change the focus of this game to pvp they're going to lose a lot of people. pvp with this format will never be better than other pvp games. it's not what neverwinter does well. I can see why they'd want to do it. it requires a lot less effort than doing pve zones. but will definitely kill this game

just a few days left of vip for me, then I will be taking a break most likely.. its too much nonsense all around to worry about, it distracts from the limited time I do get, and little to no motivation at this point to continue.
You can all return to the "they are trying to get us to quit" crazy talk.. because, well it doesn't sound that crazy to me anymore.
