Devs, you've designed a quest that will degenerate into a player vs player snipe/swipe battle in PE.
Only ONE player can 'load the mortar" each time - then it's wait until the timer's up and then ONE player can load the mortar again...there are only 4 stations on the map that I've found.
WHY? Maybe it's fun for you to watch the social channel flame wars - it's anything but fun for me.
I was looking forward to the new event. Now? Just a little fed up with all the weird design decisions on events lately.

I will say, the dogs quest was good, the one for delivering the letters was ok, but the mortars is what is killing it for me and to gate that over the dog quest pretty much pi**ed me off, especially after standing, waiting for 25 minutes. I will not be doing this on any alts, let alone my main, I have better things to do with my time
So 53x4 mortars is 212 mortars. 1600 players trying to use 212 mortars is 7.5+ players per mortar, each having to wait for the cool down timer..
Whoever came up with the timer didn't do anything as quick and simple as I just did first, did they? For a game that boasts "15 million" players, just what (if any) was the thinking going in to this?
Business as usual, and the beatings will continue until morale improves.
I was on this morning when the festival started and everyone was running around complaining about the mortar launchers.
It was discovered that if you made a party, then everyone received credit for someone hitting up a mortar. so realistically its more of way for everyone to learn to work together and have fun. I honestly had a blast running around finding the dogs through their whines in my headset and discovering where to deliver the red envelopes. I didnt have to ask for advice on how to find them like most of the players, because apparently i can read and deduce the locations or where it MIGHT be based on the quest information.
Side note to mention, its a game and if games were always easy then why play them? the struggle is what makes the game so interesting. I dont mind dieing, and D&D role players KNOW that their characters are bound to die or something horrible is bound to happen to them. I never go on a quest and expect to win. ive lost plenty of times because i bit off more than i could chew.
The festival is just a way for players to enjoy something that doesnt involve slaughtering innocent monsters mindlessly and actually taking the time to discover areas around NeverWinter. This turned into a rant and for that i appologise, but seriously.
for all that is unholy you ungrateful players, can you write code? can you script a world wide game that everyone enjoys? are you so blessed in skill with computers that you can complain about someone elses hard work for the 4 minutes that you actually attempted to try it out? scripting is a painstaking, time consuming project and the fact that the developers are able to bring new content to this platform is amazing.
I congratulate whoever had the idea for only having 4 mortar tubes, and i hope the next festival has less items to run around to and the wait is longer. maybe then others will appreciate the prize at the end. and btw, im totally rocking my riding boar after 2 hours of running around petting dogs. ^_^ looooooooovvvveee hiiiimmmm

And judging by the speed at which the devs fixed this issue - I'd say it was unintended to begin with.
THANK YOU devs for rendering the complaint in my original post here irrelevant by swift action.
