I'm looking for some feedback on how combat damage is after the piercing blades nerf with the launch of mod14. Prior to the mod 14 launch, piercing blades would deal up to an additional 50% unresistable piercing damage to our melee attacks. So there was no mitigation, because it was "unresistable" damage. Now they have changed it to be damage after mitigation, so armor class and defense of whatever we are hitting comes into account. I just read the mod 14 patch notes and haven't found any threads about this so I am hoping to get some feedback on what I'll need to do. Thanks in advance all.

Just have 100% armor pen when facing bosses.
Have a mythic Soul Sight Crystal.
Have the insignia bonuses that buff you after 1) using an artifact 2) using a mount power and 3) using a daily power.
Run longstrider's/throw caution/plant growth.
When you're fighting a boss, hit it with Throw Caution then take 2 dodges back. Hit it with your mount combat power. As fast as you can, use Soul Sight/Longstrider's/Disruptive Shot/2 dodges forward/tab/gushing wound.
Profit.
You still won't do as much damage as a GWF with 2k less IL or a roughly equal IL TR or CW, but you'll do ok.
I'm more than a little annoyed at the nerf. I've been running with a pretty consistent group through dungeons for several months now gs all relatively close and until mod 14 dropped there was no contest I topped the dps board but since 14 I've been beat by every other dps I normally run with. The rogue I expected due to the huge buff to the shadow of demise build but the sw and gwf are now making me feel like a carry
its better than trapper and archery which were relegated to support paths.
If you want easy and cheap dmg go combat. if you prefer more of a challenge go trapper or archery. thats up to you.
If you play it correctly you will demolish everything and wont get surpassed by gwfs or trs. you need to play it cheap and rely on soulsight and gushing. if u do that ull be ok.
I havent seen a single archery hr in high end content. Trappers, you see very few (im proud to say im one of the few around) but combat running fey my god hundreds ehehehe

Thats a funny at the end you did comparing classes.
The PB "nerf" just affects PvP significantly. I'm told by some HRs that it's even a buff in some cases. In any case, everything practically stays the same for ya if you PvE only.
archery has never been a solid path for the hr in this game, and as far as I remember from playing since launch on console we were initially used for support on nearly everything. Hunters were required to run longstrider's shot, can remember countless dragonflights back when they actually mattered that hrs were separated to the different dragons just for that. Trapper is not challenging to me, I find it tedious at best and the powers used aren't any different than what many combat are running. The class dailies has been garbage for 2 years now and haven't been addressed. I don't run a fey as I personally don't see an increase in damage versus the vorpal. Plus with the changes added to the way the fey works, the benefits are only to the first to hit, which granted isn't a huge deal for the hr but it can spread mobs and really HAMSTER off a tank, coupled with the fact that every other dps out there is running the fey it just seems pointless to. I am in no way disparaging any version of the hr, I have played them all combat, trapper, and ranged. Ranged is a misnomer though, unless you are in close proximity to the group you miss out on buffs so you have to stay close to really maximize your dps and trapper, which honestly should be all about crowd control, really isn't. The trapper reminds me more of druids from other mmos I've played. From what I have seen though the nerf affects more than pvp, at least when they nerfed the pvp aspect on the rogues they buffed the pve but no from the tests I have run since the mod 14 drop, and I run at 115% ap and have for quite some time, just the way my stats fell once I maxed crit, there has been a significant drop in my dps. Anyway, good luck with your builds and gaming. I have really lost interest in the game as of late and find myself playing less and less. The last few days I have logged in claimed my key, refined my 100k rough into regular ad and logged off. The recent changes have given me less and less reasons to log on. I mean with over 2 million rough ad to refine and a 100k a day cap I don;t really need to run salvage any more and the drop rates are so bad in dungeons that its really pointless to farm. It took me 2 + years to get a shard of orcus wand to drop. I didn't need it at that point, I mean I had created alts and run dungeons and salvaged on 7 other characters to buy it when I needed it originally. That method has been destroyed so now people have been given a maximum daily wage. It's so dumb ugh. sorry the whole idiocy of the changes have really killed the game for me. I don;t know maybe I'll come back after a few months. It's hard to say at this point. I'm only on the forums because its 3 am and I have no interest in logging into Neverwinter. The game has stopped being fun for me. I guess its the nature of things. Well good night all.
