I am not very excited (except for the shared companion tokens) about M14, I personally think that the Ravenloft story does not fit very well (or at all) into this game or even into Faerun. (As a matter of fact, years ago I thought that the Bhodi character in Baldur's Gate was already weird and did not fit very well.)
I am more exited about the post-M14 time when WotC takes the reigns again storywise.

Overall, I am pretty positive. I was not too thrilled when I first saw the Ravenloft content on Preview, but that has changed, now that the Barovian set is IL 550 and some of the other gear was changed to IL 540 (in particular the Darklord set with its "Boss" bonuses). Basically, now I have some worthwhile goals - even if it is just to get the boons and BiS gear.
The storyline is a bit sparse, but the graphics people did a pretty good job of creating the right atmosphere of Ravenloft, so yea...happy there.
The new hunts are also a massive improvement over the Soshenstar/Omu hunts, and the ability to control the difficulty and reward level is a great feature.
There are a few things I am not too thrilled about (making Masterwork less relevant, not fixing several of my "pet peeves"), but overall, yeah - Mod 14 looks like a good one....and I am glad I will no longer be jumped by dinosaurs when riding around.
Well Ravenloft should not be as deadly you got a vampire playing with you after all. Not a pack full of compies. Still people will be hamstering because of some of the changes. Hopefully it don't drive to many players away. I'm looking forward to it.
My time in the preview as awesome, the instance is amazing, cant wait to play there for real... "Wolves !! as big as a horse !!" ( love that dude voice ! )
I'm quite looking forward to having a new area to play in and explore. My one real concern with Tuesday will be whether or not the mistake made on previous Mod releases gets repeated wherein they let instances contain up to 50 players. This has made the first few days play while they fix that to a more sensible level somewhat less than fun in recent times, so I really hope they don't repeat that mistake this time.
My visits to the Preview Server to get a glimpse of the new Mod were encouraging

Well I hope they allow more then twenty in an instance. Kinda annoying to have that much of a limit. 40 or 35 would be perfect I think.
good question to ask and to be honest i have mixed feelings about this module because i can't outright say it's 100% bad as it features some of the most asked for QOL improvements however story wise the module dosn't offer much content wise either it has nothing new and even the new CR dungeon is like a mix of old resources put together i know dev team dosn't have much man power at the moment because of thier new magic the gather game but still the module is very lacking content wise there is few ideas here and there but even the gear is not worth while except for a piece or two i saw some of the new hunt gear have exact copy effect of old hunt gear with increased item level and i believe this shouldn't happen other than that let's hope for the best because in short this mod for me personally is a mod to be skipped because new dungeon dosn't intrest me reward wise so i hope mod 15 changes this dungeon per module situation
Ravenloft has lot of potential. my first perception is that this module will be a cuscion. i think that this place the base for future module and an necessary heavy rework on all mechanics ( maybe lv 80?)
all the new mechanics that will be introduced are very intresting and push the gameplay to a way more similar to the paper version.
My compliments to all graphic designer and dev for this hard work, thank you...
I picked Neverwinter back up as Chult was rolling out thankfully i was able to handle the content and as for Barovia i like the look and i really hope they throw some Castlevania references into this expansion cause this expansion begs for them to do something like that
First, I want to say that I really enjoy Neverwinter, and play it a lot. I don't think that the developers are evil people or trying to ruin the game. I just want to paint a picture of what Neverwinter looks like for someone (that wishes to play like me) and is at end-game.
The problem with Mod 14 (for me) is that I am going to accumulate at least 5-7 million rough AD (on my main/with refining everyday) after the first month alone. After awhile, running dungeons will seem like a waste of time. I will finish the campaign, get the gear that I want, and then not have anything to do. After all of that is finished i will basically sign in and...
1.) Refine my rough AD 2.) Grab my keys from VIP 3.) Invoke all the alts for Vault of Piety bags 4.) Maybe farm an event if it is profitable 5.) Sign out and go play Call of Duty, Fortnite, or maybe start a new MMO to take up some time.
During a x2 RP event, for example, I might be playing all day. However, the rest of the time that routine above (inside Neverwinter) will take about 20-30 minutes.
The problem for me is...I don't do professions (and have no intention of starting), I run dungeons for salvage, and collect drops to sell on the AH. Running the content is really the only way that I desire to play the game. After the cap on AD refining, I unfortunately will have no incentive to run the content once I have built up (x) million rough AD (other than getting lucky with a decent epic companion, artifact, or mount drop). This unfortunately doesn't occur often enough to justify running (x) amount of dungeon/skirmish runs all day long, in my opinion. I think, at first, this AD change doesn't seem to bad. However, (after awhile) many players might unfortunately run out of things to do. I enjoy playing PvP too. However, the reason that I rarely play it is that there aren't any worthwhile rewards. After this change (and rough AD is plentiful), PvE will feel the same unfortunately. I wanted to gear my fresh level 70 Conq. GF, but now I don't think that is a good idea. I have to maintain 3 toons already (each new mod release/significant change) which costs more than 15 million AD, usually.
Again, this is just my opinion based on the way I desire to spend my time in Neverwinter and I am worried about the retention of players like myself. After signing in just to do steps 1-5 for more than, lets say, 150 days (because some rough AD will be earned during x2 events) I might have trouble staying interested in the grind.
I usually like to remain positive, so I'm sorry about the negative post, but you asked! LOL...
Count me in with those that feel that Ravenloft never really fit into the Forgotten Realms (or Greyhawk) setting. Ever since I first saw the cover of the classic Ravenloft module I felt that it was out of place.
Vampires are one thing, but trying to channel Count Dracula creates an anachronistic feel to me, and Strahd, and the entire setting, is trying very much to channel Count Dracula. Never mind that ultimately Strahd feels like a "local problem" to me. I know that they just need to give him X many HP and have his attacks do Y much damage to make anything epic, they could make a Kobold epic, but a vampire doesn't seem like the sort of thing that the most powerful heroes in the world should have to deal with.
The most powerful heroes in the village? Sure. The most powerful heroes in the region? Maybe. But the most powerful heroes in the world? Some of our characters have fought massive dragons and Demogorgon himself. A vampire just doesn't inspire that same feeling in me.
But if that's where the game says that we have to go in order to get the latest, best gear then that is where people will go.

As ready as I'll ever be.
But, I am one who has been waiting for the Ravenloft setting to be incorporated into Faerun. When I DM'ed my pencil & paper FR campaign I had little tidbits of it for my players to discover, and have thought that it is a nice diversion setting to the overall story of the Realms.
As for game related material, I am excited for all the QoL changes that are coming. I have been waiting ages for the enhancement visuals to be a disable item.
The character select modification, not that I saw that coming, but someone with 13 toons and only main one, this is something that sounds really awesome to have.
The change to the hunt system, is a very welcomed news item. I like the "idea" of the hunts, but the implementation of the massive RNG with what amounts to hundreds of hours of grinding, which casual players cant do, was IMO, horrible.
But, as other have mentioned, I am trying to temper my excitement with caution. I was a long time STO player, since it launched, and have seen many times where Cryptic promised the sun, the moon and the stars.. only for the players to get a bowl of runny porridge.
So I am excited, but a little bit cautious.

Ravenloft was my setting to avoid, but I like most of the rest of it. The Quests, especially the Hunts (and seeing if I can solo 3* hunts, 1 or 2* I know are doable), as long as they haven't changed the advancement goals, the Mini Quests are looking interesting, and eventually the Dungeon.
Not since the days of Baldur's Gate have I looked forward to a new game expansion with such anticipation! I am not particularly into Ravenloft, but it will be nice to get an IL score a bit closer to my peers! From what I saw on Mimic, the Devs have created a suitably immersive environment in which we may adventure. Thanks, Devs!
I love dark and eerie games. Ravenloft is like a new game. It's substantially different than other Neverwinter modules. Well, at least, it looks like a new game. It seems as if it were designed by a different crew. Even voice actors are different. If your main concern is AD farming and gear progression or new boons, then maybe you won't enjoy Ravenloft. But if you enjoy scary atmosphere and intrigue and mystery, then maybe you will love Ravenloft.
My only complaint is that ... I normally only play dark games at night, for enhanced immersion. But it's summer now and the days are short. I will try to adjust my sleep schedule, to follow a more vampiric lifestyle, but alas, there will still be times when I will play during daylight hours. Perhaps I should move my computer into a room where sunlight can not enter.
One more thing .... I definitely think each instance should have a low population limit. Giant HE zergs would kill the atmosphere. It's more scary when there are no allies to help you.

How is this different then any other Mod? You complete it, you farm it, you await the next Mod.

Well updated this threads title as, its going to be here tomorrow. Also I don't really do any Dragon Runs in Well of Dragons so I don't know how good or bad it is there. Anyways its going to be an interesting time.
I'm all for completionism, and collection stuff. The campaign is not really exciting to me, but i'll still do it with more envy than SKT/RD. I'll try Castle Ravenloft as soon as i can, get all the titles from it, then probably will stick with tong as it's faster, and way easier for kinda the same rewards.
I'm more excited about the new hunt system. I'm sick of hunting Soshenstar and Omu to get the impossible +5 rings. Now it'll be way easier to complete the collection stuff from hunts.
The QoL like sharable AD and tokens through the account are nice. The new AD limit won't affect me as I only refine more than 100k on double gems/seals week-ends. I'll probably spend the early mod trying to get collection stuff, doing CR once unlocked, then stick to my usual tong runs to complete my R14 stuff, and play the AH.
Doesn't seem to have a real new occupation there. I mean it's fine for me as it leaves me several months to grind other stuff for my completionism, and to upgrade my gear. But outside of me, I guess some people could feel a bit disappointed by the lack of real new things. HEs, dailies, seals, hunts, nothing really new here. Only the new dungeon is some fresh content.
Overall a not really interesting mod for me, I'll do it, grind it, complete it of course, but without the excitation that M12 brought. I'm glad devs are still make content for the game tho, I know that content can't please everyone, so I'll wait for the Mod 15 to maybe get some excitation about new things

We could really use some patch notes for tomorrow. Live patch notes, the FINAL ones, not from preview.
Without getting into "spoilers", I kind of like how Strahd von Zarovich introduces himself to the player. I think it is starting out well written. I am keeping my fingers crossed we have minor bugs and no major issues, there is no such thing as a bug free module in any game. I have heard we are getting some pretty nice armor. Vistani gear (IL 460) with pants, shirt, and standard rank 8 enchantments pre-slotted. But I will stick with what I am wearing for now. While the Legendary mount turns you into a swarm of bats, the epic mount sounds a lot cooler turning you into fog or mist.
As to how hyped up I am about Ravenloft? Well back in the late 80's I wrote a D&D novel I never got published. "A Night in Castle Velspa" was my story about vampires in the realm. I am also a huge fan of Anne Rice and her novels. Before anyone asks, yes I thought about doing an e-book on Amazon. However at the time, Amazon didn't exist and the internet was still in diapers. I was trying to go through a publishers that would accredit my novel to the official D&D brand. If I ever make it into a self published e-book, unless I can get permission from WoC, I will have to remove any references to their intellectual property. Take how jazzed you are about getting to finally play with vampires and raise that to the power of ten. I am somewhere in that bracket.
The QoL and solo content look nice but I worry that the dungeon won't have enough longevity to keep people in my community logging in.

Also looking forward to upgrading my alts with 470, 490 & 510 IL gear + 540 gear for my lvl 11 GF (he can't use it, but once he hits 70 it will help (better than starting with 345 gear)

I joined when SKT was new [or was it Maze Engine.]
I didn't catch up to those for weeks and they were hard hard going at first.
Then River District, that was hard also at first, but not as bad as SKT
Then Soshenstar - that was a killer to begin with.
But Omu was a pleasant surprise, I guess by then I had the iL to compete properly.
[Still not really enough for Tong and Cradle though]
SO the answer is, if you have 13k iL it will be ok?
Certainly looking forward to new content - we been in the Jungle over a year
"Wolves !! as big as a horse !!" ( love that dude voice ! )
PS. night terror was a really nice idead
plus there's the Vistani stuff to help with that...
