GF Shield - Aggrevating Strike

doriangreighdoriangreigh Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 707 Arc User
I am certain this has been brought up before but is there anyway the Devs can consider removing the step forward a GF takes when stabbing over the shield (aggrevataing strike). I was doing my first TONG run on my GF (experienced in running a MOF or DC), and while the start of the dungeon went flawlessly I could not probably do my drop on final boss. I would literally step right past the boss sometimes through the boss and then get hit square in the back with no shield blocking.

There is NO need to have a step forward, just make the GF plan feet firmly in the ground stab over the shield and NOT move, PLEASE.

    @doriangreigh Agreed.
And yes, this has been brought up many times in the past 4 years.
    One example:

    Keep bringing it up.

Well, this would not be such issue if it was not so hard to actually hit the target with this power - take for example this challenge: kill one wisp with AS. :p

What urks me the most is the fact that a tanky companion "man-at-arms" I think he's called, just stands there and stabs where I step forward. Other tanky NPC's do the same they stand there stab and don't move through there target.

tbh i don't mind it. Yes, its annoying but it just means that it takes some skill to use. I like how GF isn't exactly just press one button and tank . . . .

I don’t know about you, but I do anything BUT just stand there spamming the mouse button. There’s already plenty of things for a tank to worry about, and to learn how to do better and better. Having to focus on sliding back and forth because of a really silly and annoying quirk that’s probably unintentional is not one of the things I wanna focus on.

is handy tho, if your slightly out of range and need to get one step closer . . .

    annoying - yes
    game breaking - no
other things I'd rather see fixed first - probably yes

    understand your frustration tho

For some reason it is very pronounced when fighting Ras Nsi, especially when he is raising his sword over his head winding up for his IBS. It seems like he loses his hit box during this time so you go right through him and get chopped behind your shield.

Anyway, yes I agree please get rid of the moving forward portion of the animation!

Actually, I noticed Crushing Surge does the same thing, even without the shield up. I wanna just stand there and smash that target dummy, but about half the time my GF takes like 2 steps forward. Not every time: about half the time. wth is that all about?

Anyone notice that happening with other at-wills?
