@miasmat did your team try out the new bag system on console?
Previously we could move from one bag to the next with a single trigger pull. Now you cannot use the trigger on anything other than the inventory screen, so putting things into the bank, mail or auction house shows all bags on a single tab and you have to hold down the left stick and look through all items.
I can see how this would work well on a PC with a mouse, but it appears to have had no regard for XB & PS players.

This might be related to #2, if I use the left stick to scroll down through the bag, when it should (IMO) go from current bag to next bag, it sometimes skips over to the inventory management button instead of the next bag. It seems to matter which column you have selected, in the active bag, the first column (I think) goes to the next bag and the other columns skip to the button. This is not horrible, but might help with / be related to item #2: Navigating up/down between bags sometimes changes which column you're in.

Reiterating this because it's so important. If you have items in your second bag or later it takes significantly more time to put those items into a bank, mail, or the auction house.

@miasmat I would like to request 2 more QoL features.
1) When you are alt tabbed and someone pms you, can the gameclient either flash orange, or there is some other form of notification so you know someone messaged you.
2) A mass item move feature, when you want to move many items to bank, or many items from bank to character. Probably hard to implement, but whenever I want to move salvage to alts I hate having to move stuff 1 item at a time to bank.

"Alt tab" in the Xbox forum?!?! Burn the PC player! No, wait! We love you guys too! If this is a popular request, we can look into doing it.

You can currently double-click items to deposit/withdraw them while the bank UI is visible. Is that a better experience for you?

@miasmat it defaults to the personal bank and not the shared bank, so no, it involves even more clicking as you double click to move to personal bank and then drag to shared bank.
Before the update, I had each of my seven bags highly sorted. Each was for a particular type of item. ... Please give us the option to revert back to the original layout.
I'm really trying to understand how the new layout messed up your sorting. The bags are still exactly as they were, just shown in the same scroll view rather than on separate tabs of the Inventory.
In the inventory Display Options window, if you make sure "Filter" is "None", "Sort By Bag" is "Yes", and "Icon Size" is "Large", that should be really similar to the old layout. With the only difference is that all the bags are in one list, rather than on separate tabs.
Now, IF you change the icon size to the small icons, it'll change from 6 columns wide to 8 columns wide. If your organization is by columns, then that'll totally change the organization for you. But if you are sorting by BAG, I can't imagine how 6 -> 8 columns would change anything.
Or, IF you chose "Sort All Bags", then that'll change the sort from your custom manual organization to a new thing that might not make sense to you.
We're adding an intermediate dialog when you choose "Sort All Bags" that lets you specify which bags to affect, which sort method to use and whether you want the empty spaces at the start or end of those bags. That'll go out in the next update.
When I updated the game and opened my bags, all my items were mixed up. It might have been a bug and I wish I had taken screenshots of it before attempting to resort my bags. I don't understand why you can't add in a feature to allow us to toggle between the old and new bag layout.
Right and left clicking use to bring up each individual bag but now it simply sends me to the first row of each bag that is filling up the same window. I have accidentally destroyed items I had meant to keep because of trying to find one item in the overwhelming amount of icons staring back at me.
Probably because it isn’t messed up, it’s different from what you’re used to. I have five characters I use daily, three for random queue dungeon and skirmish, DC 13Kish, GWF 14Kish. The three characters that are lower level only have two bags, the original and quest bag. For them the new bag situation is better than before because I don’t have to tab bags. So, if you are a newer player it is likely you have no problem at all with the bags. My main GWF has four runic bags and smaller bags, so it is a bit different. I keep a fair amount of stuff and using the sort all option didn’t work out for me, but I can still sort bags individually by pressing the stick, no big deal. The only real drawback is how the bags display when tabbing between them: they don’t show at the top of the screen, which will be addressed in the future, and, as many have requested, we would like an option to sort to the bottom of the bag.
I ask of everyone in here, if you don’t like the bag, then please try to explain why so the devs can fully understand it.
Since I have multiple bags I don’t typically use the filter options on my main. I find it better to place items in the bags I want them in. On my alts I don’t typically use the sort because I’m only running dungeons for AD. With the alts I use the identify all option, then the refinement window. Any blue gear I simply put on the auction house. I have used the unopened items filter when running dread ring after using the sort all function (figured I’d give it the ol’ college try) and it was useful to find the quest rewards, but didn’t like how empty spaces were filled immediately by the next item. I keep unopened items such as companion packs, voucher packs, and so on for events and I don’t want to inadvertently open them. I’m used to the slot being empty after I open a box, the moving to the next item, this will take some getting used to. Also, the same can be said when selling to a vendor. There have been a few occasions where I’m so used to clicking to sell, then moving right, repeating that I’ve sold items I wanted to keep. Not a big deal because I can just purchase them back, but an adjustment none the less. Sell all treasure is a welcome addition, I no longer track treasure in the bags.
How I use the new system (main or 2nd main): • Keep the first bag empty • Quest / kill / loot as normal • Identify all items • Refine gemstones and gear • Manually sort the bag • Open quest rewards • Salvage or bank/mail salvage • Sell to vendor • Sort what is left (treasure maps, potions to keep, etc)
Overall the new systems have reduced the time I spend in my bags.
The system can be both different and messed up, no matter how clever you think you're being. The whole gist of your post is "I work backwards now because it's easier." The system is messed up.

Going to reiterate this for armadeonx because I have asked the same question on different threads and this has yet to be answered.
Seriously, did you test this on consoles? It's a huge fail.
The interface or view of the bags when selling something is much better than the interface presented when trying to mail or bank something, maybe that sell view could be used?? It does not display empty space...that works fairly well for bulk actions on a few items.
Can we have a "trash bag": where discarded stuff is kept until leaving a zone much like the "buy back" tab at traders for accidently sold stuff? Or even just put those discarded items in the very same "buy back" space to recover when mistaken? I wouldn't mind paying a few copper, silver gold rather than having it irrevocably lost. :-(
Given that the fatally (often enough unintentionally) clicked "discard" menu item is often close next to often used desired menu items (refine, manage, salvage), it would save a lot of frustration for players and workload for the customer service to recover such lost stuff. Of course, it should keep any discarded stuff no matter where/ how it was discarded (from bags, items slots, enchantment slots).
Sometimes accidents happen when operating NW-mail attachments/ items like deleting a whole mail before the items were removed (because of lag), so it would help if those items could be saved there, too. But I can see this being technically a different area, so if it couldn't work with mails but just the "normal" stuff, that would be a big help.

Like very _BIG_!!! 8-)
Unfortunately, something like the "trash bag" could potentially be abused and used as an additional bag. People could "discard" the item into the "trash bag" run around and continue to accumulate items and then "cash out" when it's convenient.

Because something will be abused by some is no reason to not find a solution for the many that don't abuse things.
First, you could limit the amount of discarded items that would be held in trash. Since expired auctions only mail you one item, and you can only discard one item from your bags at a time, and the most a mail message could hold is 5 items...I would say setting a trash that holds a maximum of 5 items would work.
But you're worried about abusers right? In addition to limiting the amount of items, I would say limit the time this stuff stays in trash. I'm totally for a way to recover an accidentally discarded item. That should happen infrequently. Most times I would think you would notice your mistake immediately. So I would go with anywhere from a 5-15 minute timer to get your stuff out of trash. I think that's ample time to realize you made a mistake and fix it. If not, well then you hit customer support for help.

What in my suggestion "kill / purge on zone-leave" can be abused more than the already existing feature "buy back", especially when put in the very same space?
