Savage Allosaur companion doesn't upgrade?

I just purchased a Savage allosaur companion in the AH, added it to my comps. and prepared to upgrade it and found that it had no discernable method to upgrade. Why?

    I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!

    Have you already maxed it out at the present color/level?

    I think you skipped a step...you have to level it to max level before you can upgrade it.

    I think you skipped a step...you have to level it to max level before you can upgrade it.
    That is what I was thinking, thus my question. ;)

    Actually, it was at lvl 1, but the problem magially corrected itself; the upgrade button reappeared! Weird...
