Protector's jubliee....

Is this event bugged or can you just not get the needed figurines for the rewards? I only got 1 figurine for doing everything today and that was from a box. I read in the press release that there were quests that should have given me some, but I didn't get any. Do you really have to spend money on this event to get items with the figurines?

This would be nice to know. A lot of people seem to be asking this question in game, so I am surprised this is the only forum post about it that I've found yet.

Once you get all the quests done; you get a quest for in the garden. Go into the garden and collect reward from chest by the merchants. This will give you a figurine. It will be in your inventory below seals, with other collectibles.

Didn't get a figurine from the chest.... just 2 useless bounties...

The figurine drops from the first bounty pack you open for the day. And you can buy them from the zen store.

So far, the only certain way to get more than the single daily figurine is to buy them in packs of three from the Zen store. As the three 'best' items in the store cost between 10 and 14 figurines, it would be useful if there was another way to obtain the extra 3 to 7 needed in addition to the guaranteed daily reward. I have heard an Alliance member in chat say he got one as a random drop during an 'Escort the Merchant' run...but not certain.

If anyone knows a way to farm figurines, even if it just via standard NWO RNG, then please post the information here. Maybe @nitocris83 could look into this for us :)

A second used to be in the chest after you wrap up the quests. It isn't now....

That blows. I hadn't checked the store yet. I just assumed that if I did the dailies every day, I would be able to get the garden key. Now to get the bet stuff, they've gone from participating every day to participating every day and buy with zen, which you can't do unless you already have zen or buy with cash.

I think last year you got one figurine for escorting a merchant once per day, I think you could earn more but it was a rare drop, but, just going by memory.
  • iamriversongiamriversong Member Posts: 8 Arc User
I found this too and checked the event news and it said you get 2 random quests per day and can earn figurines but I also did everything I could today and only got one - I want the unicorn AND key to garden but don't want to spend loads of zen to do it. Did about 6 runs with the merchant and mostly got one or two renown per fight and maybe a couple (1 or 2 ) bounty per run and no figurines.

Also, are the bounty bugged coz I have opened at least 25 today and not a single protectors hospitality. I remember a similar thing happening during the Winter Festival and wondered if anyone else has experienced this or is the drop rate even after the claimed 5 bounty really HAMSTER? So far all i have gotten is vouchers for my stronghold.

I got a second figurine yesterday from opening a [Protector's Bounty] chest. I opened 58 yesterday and only got one additional figurine so the drop rate isn't very high.

There seems to also be a chance to receive one in the reward chest in the Protector's Garden.

We raised this question in the community team and will ask the devs to clarify that sources of figurines are working as intended.

It's working in pretty much the way they changed it to last year, and the blog that says you get them from quests is incorrect.

I felt it was a bad change last year and I still hate it. It went from being very straightforward to farm enough Figurines to buy whatever items you wished to nearly impossible, requiring either that you escort the merchant for days on end and pray for good RNG, or buy them.

Well, guess I was right in half skipping this event then. On to full on skip then! Don't have garden access, don't much feel like buying for it either.

Full RNG on this event. Wtf, why are some events consistent and straightforward and others complete BS like this one.

I've escalated this issue to see if there's something weird happening with drop rate.

I did have one thought. The merchants for items are always available for at least a week after the even. I'm wondering if the figurines will still be rewarded from the box after the event and so you could potentially get almost enough (outside of RNG) to get the key....

the one per day seems to be on a 24 (maybe 20 hour) cooldown. Certainly didn't drop on my first protector bounty opened of the day but seemed to come later, around the 24 hour mark from the day before (but I wasn't online from the 20-24 hour mark which is so popular for the dev's to use). After opening 200+ protector bounties in two days, I have received a total of 3 figurines. Totally unacceptable to make the best prizes only available via zen purchase, if i have no life and can farm 200+ protector bounties in two days, I should be able to get all the rewards by the end of the event, one reward shouldn't be an impossibility.

Guys - we had this issue last year and whilst annoying, it turned into a smaller issue - The protector's Hospitality that you target people with a drink/gift also randomly drops the figurines - this is how most of my guild got enough last year across their toons.

PS - that being said, it would be nice if one could do the dailies like we used to and get them...

With the July 4th event straight after, there wont be anywhere for the merchant - this year everyhting is back to back (which is strange, cause last year we had a week gap inbetween them)

I think if the 4th fell on Wednesday or later, they'd have run the Lliira event the following week. But they've also moved the Summer Festival up, probably to try to avoid as much overlap with M12 being out as possible. They do seem to be making an effort to not run the major events concurrently with big content releases.

even if the hospitality is the trick to actually get stuff. Something needs to be communicated. As of now, noone knows how to get the rewards that require the figurines. Its such a bad look and screams P2W when it appears the only way to get premium event rewards is via zen

The figurines received during the Protector's Jubilee shouldn't just vanish after 45 days in my opinion is there any other event currencies that just "poof" after a few days, why should the Jubilee currency?

I've pretty much given up on getting Protector's Garden keys for every on of my 50 characters, particularly since I can work my HAMSTER off trying to get figurines and they all disappear before the next Jubilee (of course you can always spend money and buy them from the market - wink, wink - I wonder if they "poof" after 45 days as well, not that I'm inclined to find out)

But over the course of the four years since I've been playing they've made the garden pass harder to obtain by decreasing the rate where figurines drop (about the same time they started selling figurines in the market- go figure) and also made the gargen pass less appealing with the introduction of VIP where a player can transport, access their mail and personal bank from anywhere (but VIP privileges from the market by anyone willingh to spend the money to obtain it), so just have fun during the Jubilee and don't expect too much for your efforts - unless you are willing or able to purchase it.

The changes made to this event effectively ruined it.

The changes to the event effectively ruined it if-and-only-if you were trying to acquire a large number of items from the figurine store, which had never previously been a problem.

The changes were a big improvement for players looking to the event for wealth-building or personal progression (rather than collecting gewgaws). The discounts were actually a major opportunity if you were in a position to take advantage of them.

The big failure, in my opinion, was not hitting the right balance for new and established players to all get what they wanted.

Also, because doing the event "properly" required focus on one character, having all the big-ticket items from the renown store bind to character really doesn't work well anymore. Making the thrones and mount bind to account would make a lot more sense when the most benefit comes from escorting the merchant on a single character. Get some fun stuff for your alts, and not have buckets and buckets of currency on a single character with effectively nothing to spend it on.

tl;dr Too hard to get enough figurines even on a single character, but renown suffered from gaining far more than single character could reasonably spend.

Some of us LIKE collecting gewgaws!!!

Well i have opened about 30 bounty and no hospitality yet either. How can I get those?? Also, as I understand they drop for others you toast but not for you?
  • putzboy78putzboy78 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,950 Arc User
drop for others, so you share. I shared 25 this morning, didn't get a figurine. I wish they had indicated how impossible getting a figurine was so i could have bought them zen market when we had the 50% off sale

The only "good" "new" thing that can be exchanged using figurine is the dragon throne, right? The unicorn uses another currency, right? May be it is easier to get the dragon throne in Winter festival.

I think it's the unicorn with Figurines and all thrones with Reknown, which is easy to get in more quantity than it's even feasible to use on one character. (Except buying Lunchboxes to sell later.)

You could buy those with real money, right? Why is there even a timer on an item that can be bought with real money??

    This says it all...
    Yup...

I'd rather endure the sahha ticket ball madness than this. I'm passing on this event. Least the rest of the upcoming summer event is straight forward without mindless grinding. Seriously, what if someone wanted to do this on multiple chars? You can only grind one at a time with how damn stupidly low the drop rate is for the figurines in the bounty.
