Discarding Companions Workaround?

Anyone know of a way to eliminate old companions that have a grayed-out, unselectable "Discard" option in the Idle Companions menu? I have 26-ish old companions, all purchased from the Zen market, that don't seem to allow discarding after binding. I submitted a ticket about it but was told that they don't "qualify for deletion".

LOL that's because they want you spend money to buy zen to buy more companion slots.

they want you spend money to buy zen to buy more companion slots.

That's very possible but newer companions purchasable from the Zen market no longer have that non-discardable aspect, showing that if it was indeed their marketing strategy it changed at some point.

You can buy idle companion slots on AH. Not that expensive.

I have purchased extra idle slots many times what with having 130+ companions. But considering that collecting companions in this game is my main Neverwinter passion it annoys me having a small section of defunct losers at the bottom of my list. And that list is only going to get bigger as I find better deals for higher rarity companions on the AH. :(
