VIP doesn't feel like VIP

dagambitdagambit Member Posts: 187 Arc User
With how expensive micro transactions are in this game VIP doesn't feel like VIP. Especially when it comes to enchanted keys. I know its probably already been said that we should get 1 key per character rather than 1 per account. What I wasnt to bring up is people losing keys for not logging in everyday. I will say maybe 25% on the community is in the military and some business people that take extended business trips and do not have access to the internet or bring their XB1 or PS4 with them.

So for me being in the military I'm in the Navy. When I get deployed like the other branches we don't have acces to the internet nor can we connect to DOD networks with our consoles security risk.

I have about 10 months left on my VIP, I am going to lose 120 enchanted keys when I meet my ships that's already on deployment. Because I will not be able to login. Losing keys because I can't login is not VIP status. If I go to a certain hotel all the time and become a VIP member. When I stay in a particular room that hotel will always make sure its available for me when I return. Especially if I am always spend a lot of money at the hotel.

Basically me losing keys when I don't login sucks. Especially when your lockboxes drop at an 80% rate in this game. And keys in the Zen market are way to pricey. Feels like I am at Walmart getting a set of keys made.

In my opinion I don't think people should lose keys for not logging in. Especially if they are going to be gone for weeks, months at a time. VIP is already expensive as it is. Most games are offering season passes for a year @ 14.99. The season VIP for ARC is $120 with no discounts in he Zen market at all. Really!! I pay 120 and can't get discounts in the Zen Market and I lose keys for not logging in. Can you say rip off!! The other VIP benefits are useless accepte the no more injures and no auction posting fees.

Knowing that you'd be deployed why the hell would you buy such a lengthy VIP.

However I do agree with the idea of Enchanted keys still being available to be redeemed if you can't get on for a few days.

When you figure that VIP at its most expensive costs around 33 zen per day, and that the current exchange rate is about 1:307 that makes it around 10k in AD per day.

One key per day over a month should easily earn that in the value of lockbox drops, I've never grossed less than that across a month with my one key per day. Whether it be in stuff I sold, or stuff that I got that I then didn't need to buy.

If I could get five times that, I'd never need to buy zen again. Not that I buy much to begin with.
If the guys with 50 toons were getting 50 keys per day, then they'd be getting about half a million ADs worth of stuff.
    Every day.
    Every single day...
Along with about four or five hundred trade bars... every single day.

The in game market would crash, with everyone racing to max the number of active character slots, and spend more time opening lockboxes and emailing HAMSTER from toon to toon than they do actually playing the game. Just to keep on a level with everyone else.

The zen exchange would collapse, as people stop buying it to sell, (why bother?) and just dump 1000 a month into VIP.

Soon, the cash poor time rich players get priced out of the game cos theres no zen left to buy on the exchange and are either forced into buying zen to pay for VIP or become second class citizens who can't afford the 50 keys per day the cash rich time poor players get for free.

I don't know what the solution is to address your situation, but I'm guessing it begins with not buying a years VIP in one go if you know you're not going to be able to use it.

It's not just the military who can have unexpected shifts in circumstance. In fact, I'd think the nature of military deployment would give cause to assume such shifts as the norm.

I'm on shore duty for the Navy now, but I do go out from time to time for about 2 weeks. I never really looked at it that way Mordekai.

If you had more characters you would be losing out on more keys when you miss a day ;) Maybe there is someone at home that can log your toon and grab the key every day.

It would be nice to pause your status for a period of time. The streaming service HULU will allow you to pause your account. This would be a great benefit for our armed services brothers/sisters.

When I go on holiday my brother logs in for me, sets my professions and picks up my daily key. Is there no one you could ask to help you out? Trustworthy people are few and far between in this game ;)

As a level 12 VIP I look at the value that I get out of the program. The 10% salvage bonus and 25% Wonderous Bazaar discount add up. I lost it for a couple days and found how much I missed the signpost.

As for losing the key, that comes with almost any subscription service. If you do not use Netflix for a week, you do not get a week added on. It is simply a risk that is taken with a subscription. Would it be nice? Sure, but I knew the terms of what I signed up for.

    That's the thing about VIP.
Its about the extra features that aren't absolutely necessary, but just make life easier.
I'd have a cold sweat fit if I lost the signpost, mailbox, the immunity to injuries and even the invoke anywhere.
The keys and scrolls are gravy that essentially pay for the VIP.
Three dungeon keys worth of salvage, one lockbox and the salvage bonus more than pay for the 850 zen a month I pay.
About 9k in AD per day... for what you get... that's nothing.

I wish the daily key would just drop in your bag every day by itself... I never missed much as i rarely go out of town but i missed a few on certain weekends where i was taking off friday and back on sunday.

Personally i can't play NW without VIP, the injury thing, not having a travel post, calling a merchant, i could just not play it without that. So i must pay it... I try to pay it 850 zen, to save a bit, but i feel its rather expensive. 500 should be enough.

I junk all my zen on VIP so i never have zen to buy coal ward.. and i refuse to put real money on this game, no way. I did in the past, around 70$, thats more than enough, its the price of a full game.

I do think the key should be a given everyday regardless if u log in or not. A key for every toon would probably be a bit much but I think a couple a day would be good. And no it wouldn't kill the economy. Lol there is a lot of value there but at the same time it could be better. For the amount of broken in this game it is extraordinarily expensive

Yeah if they allowed 1 key per character that means some of us would have 54 characters to collect from, not counting the level 70 packs if they work like other character slotted packs, mind you that'd be everyday n' lockboxes will soon be pointless... lol. c:
