Run dungeons. You can run The Cloak Tower dungeon starting at level 12. Make sure you run a minimum of 2 dungeons a day every day. Also skirmishes when you level up enough to unlock them.

don't u need a group for dungeons? I been running solo

no, the que (spelling) system will match you up with others. Just be aware that high level characters will run this dungeons to get their daily AD. So you may get left behind. Also, at some point in the quest lines, some quests give you AD as part of the reward.

You can't solo at any level. Game will not let you. You will be matched with others.

Well that sucks. The whole reason I play is to avoid people.

Next thing you'll tell is that the Foundry isn't enabled on the PS4.

    Uh... yeah, about that....

I don't think it's even active on PC.

And I don't think foundry is available on consoles...

Funny, there's a dwarf Harper in the front hall of the Hall of Justice who says otherwise. I wouldn't have known by looking at him. He didn't seem to have his harp on him, nor did he seem to prattle on.

So here's a question (I'm too new to have my own thread yet, and I apologize for possibly hijacking this one), what's the point of astral diamonds except to make you spend real money on them (if only for the two you need to start selling things for profit in the auction house). I mean is it conceivable to live 60 or 70 levels of life without them? Just chuck your unidentified items, and magic rocks at merchants for coppers on the gold, forget about refining your enchantments, and just grind, grind, grind your way to the top without ever owning a single one?

Frankly I don't want to invest in a headset (since I obviously didn't invest a whole lot in a free game), and I sure as heck don't want to text on my controller (or even on my phone for that matter), which is why I decline offers to group up. I'm afraid they're gonna wanna--you know--communicate and stuff. That and I can barely understand what people are typing in that little box anyway. So why would ever want to play with a group in Neverwinter on PS4?

That and if I wanted to do currency exchanges, and attend auctions, I would be playing Accountants & Actuaries, and putting my real life gaming stuff (a lot, not to brag) up on Craigslist, and not playing a game based on (a not terribly good, now past edition of) Dungeons & Dragons--which is what I would like to do. Neverwinter seems to me to be a continuation of those great (well, I liked them anyway) PS2 Balder's Gate games of days gone by. Basically I just want the fun without all the emotional commitment. You know like when you're away from home, and in your twenties.

So is it possible to do that without the PVP, the quests, the skirmishes, the Cloak Tower and all the other dungeons, and just play selfish, never dye you clothes and never own an astral engagement ring? Is it true what they say--time is astral diamonds? Or are they just a fact of virtual life?

That's not what the dwarf Harper in the front hall of the Hall of justice says. He didn't go on and on about it nor did he seem to have a harp on him so I kind of had to take his word for it.

So yeah I had this beautiful epic, funny poignant post, and the forum (in the middle of self-saving I think) just ate it. If I was allowed to post my own threads (I'm apparently too new) I would do so about the generally buggy response I've been getting from the site tonight but whatever--it's free right?

So anyhow what that post more eloquently asked was this: Can you live 60-70 levels of a character's life without paying real money, skirmishing, PvP, auctioning stuff off, going into multiplayer only dungeons, or any of that other stuff that people do to acquire astral engagement stones, and just play the game? Can you just sell unidentified stuff to merchants for coppers on the gold, sell off lock boxes, not dye your pants, live without riding a miniature tarrasque through town, level up and still have fun doing so alone?

I have a PS4, and a relatively free game. I don't have compatible keyboard, really don't want to invest in a headset, and don't even like texting on my phone--gods forbid doing it on a controller--not that I can understand what people are typing in that little black box anyway. This is the primary reason I decline offer to join groups. Unless they need a mute bowman, I'm not their man.

Perhaps I'm just selfish, but all I really want to do is play game based on (an admittedly not very good past version) of Dungeons & Dragons, not conduct currency exchanges, and auctions. If that was what I was looking for I would be playing Accountants & Actuaries and selling my analogue game collection on Craigslist.

So is it even conceivable to live without astral diamonds?

(Or to post things without having them explode in your face, or leave a thread and not run into the "Page Not Found" page -- I mean how do they even know that that is not the page I was hoping for? I mean these last two are certainly possible, but probable...?)

If you plan to solo from 60-70 and never worry about running group content, then don't worry about AD. You can do fine with just gold/free stuff.

But for AD, it's pretty hard to make AD without running group content. Your best option would be to do the seasonal events and selling off the exclusive stuff from those (ex: South Sea fashion from Summer).

Thing is, the game is an mmo-rpg which is kinda defined by the necessity of grouping with others to do stuff.

Can you get by without AD or running group content with others? Sure but you'll never progress/get better. You'll never get seals for decent armor, you won't earn enough to buy decent enchantments and you'll be running across maps on 50% horses as you won't be able to afford VIP or a decent mount.

On the upside, you won't need any of these things as all the hard content requires groups anyway...

You could look into starting a new genre of game though; the mas-rpg, or 'massively anti-social - role playing game' :)
