Are you guys ever going to bother fixing Alchemy (at least on the Xbox One version)?

Let's see... Alchemy experimentation been broken since, what, November? Posted in the bug forum like a good little gamer, have a half-dozen other people confirm problem, not one official response or notice of the problem.

So let's try blasting the message out elsewhere: Alchemy is effing broken. As in, at least Rank 9 Experimentation isn't giving any Basic Alchemical Knowledge. As in, I can't progress to trying to get Unified Elements so, you know, I can progress to some kind of end-game around here.

Would I get some better notice if I typed in all caps? ALCHEMY IS BROKEN GUYS! See, I even bolded it for you. Easy to see, wouldn't you say?

Now, even better than someone actually noticing this problem would be someone to give us an ETA on a fix. I understand that this isn't considered a priority over certain issues, but just holding to some kind of time table here would at least give me the hope that someone out there gives even half a damn about end-game progression.

Because if not, I would just like to know that nobody is allowed to progress in this game anymore so I don't waste my time with it. I actually do consider my hobby time semi-valuable to me personally, and after all there are an awful lot of F2P games that might actually have working end-game stuff or whatever.

So just let me know if Alchemy isn't going to be fixed, so I can be on my merry way and stop wasting everyone's time, especially mine. That would be awfully swell.

Did you submit a support ticket? There is a bug where if you do any Alchemy progression tasks during a 2x professions event it can move you up a rank but not give you the next task. Is that what you're experiencing?

No. That is not what is happening. ~~There is no double refinement going on right now, and it still doesn't drop the BAK item needed to do the Alchemical Research task.~~ I have tried doing this periodically for going on 3 months now, under all manner of circumstances, for at least 12-20 attempts (which is pretty easy, since it's so quick and the mats are easy to obtain): it just won't drop the BAK items.

And like I said, when I originally posted about this, it wasn't happening like that, either. I even had a weird discrepancy where it had both Rank 7 and Rank 9 Experimentation tasks. So it was pretty clearly glitched up.

I have indeed submitted a ticket, but given that multiple people are having the same issues at different levels of alchemy, this is clearly a problem with the skill mechanics themselves, not just one player's issues. The fact they are having a glitch under 2x Refinement is just another indication the entire system is borked.

Edit: Sorry, missed that there is a 2x Refinement going on. Doesn't matter, rest of post still stands, this is happening during times without 2x Refinement.

It's not bugged for everyone, just some players. How do I know this? Because I've levelled my Alchemy from Rank 6 to 25 in the last two months or so.

I noticed that one of the experimentation tasks didn't disappear after levelling though, so I deliberately didn't touch it, knowing this bug was affecting some players.

It's not the 2x Refinement event that bugs it. It's the 2x Professions event (we just had another one a couple weeks ago) that bugs it. I do believe the devs are aware, but just in case, I will forward the report again.

I leveled alchemy on 2 characters and it was the longest, most annoying profession to do. At the end i was starting to think i was doing something wrong on my second character as the UE thing didn't drop.. but it eventually did. Lets say i won't up it on my third character...

I've levelled it on 6 characters and I'm in the middle of doing it on my 7th, I'm currently at rank 13.

I've found the trick is to look at the next task after the one you're attempting and make the potions before you get there. I prepare them at a ratio of 3 sets to every one Alchemical Knowledge required and set another batch running if rng isn't popping.

Make tons of vitriol as early as possible as it's easy to run out at the latter stages and you can waste time creating more when you should be progressing. Whenever I'm going to be off the game for more than a few hours I make a full set of x5 gathering or vitriol creation and only do the short experimentation tasks when I'm going to be able to keep going back to it quickly.

I also do it as my 3rd profession so I have 8 windows open and use higher ranked alchemists (my 4th profession is always Leadership as it takes so much longer than everything else I only do it once I have all 9 windows open).

In the long run is it cheaper to just go buy the materials for a given rank's experimentation task? Or to use other lower level tasks to generate those materials?

I've pushed through about levels 3 - 7 of ranking up alchemy by buying stacks of potions for experimentation on the AH, as well as spending the minor AD to finish tasks immediately. Was about to resume that but thought I'd see if it was better to have multiple alchemists making the base potions in the background...

I commented on the original post (different from this one) in December. No response. I submitted a ticket on the 13th of this month after a friend of mine on the same rank I was stuck on was able to progress. Day after the ticket, I was asked to submit screenshots (I do not know how this is helpful) and since then, I have not heard back from Arc on the ticket. I submitted a status report request on the ticket today. This is ridiculous. I'm wasting my resources, my AD, and my time on 2 different characters trying to level alchemy. I had ZERO issues leveling alchemy to 25 on another character a year ago.

PLEASE FIX

I check the AH on a potion by potion basis. A few of them are dirt cheap but many range between 500AD - 3kAD each and seeing as you may need as many as 30 of them it often works out better to make your own.

As such, research and plan ahead and only tackle it when you have enough crafting slots.

I do the "check ahead" and prepare method, but I always go above what I'm likely to need (12 or 15 potions when it needs 3) then I sell the leftovers at a knockdown of 10% or so for a quick sale, so even when levelling alchemy I'm still making a few thousand AD a day.
I top up from other characters on Aquas and some vitriol, and use double profs when its available, but I've never had any issues with leveling.

I've got a character currently at R11 and the Gods are against me, its taken seven goes to get from 3 to 4. But its working.
And since its only consuming Aqua Vitae, Quicksilver and Coal its not too bad.

Just wanted to let you all know that they resolved my alchemy ticket yesterday and i have already successfully moved up another rank on my own. Was stalled at rank 11 for months, they looked into it and credited me 1800 xp to rank up to 12. I'm now at 13 and on my way to 14.

Yes, this needs a fix BUT in the meantime, submit a ticket to save yourselves the headache

Lvl 1-25 takes about 10 give or ta a couple days if your smart about it. Dont have time to explain it but just think it through and cough up a couple K ad per level. Its the easiest to lvl up.

I've got one guy on L21 Leadership (about 1/4 of the way to go). Hope to get to 23...
Having 2 at 25 will make life a bit easier.

ETA. On the subject of double professions...
Someone remind me, do you get double element drops on HEs in the 4 Elemental Evil zones?
Or is it JUST node drops?

I Wonder if the bug is caused when you go over on alchemical research during a double prof event?
Say, if you need 3 and get 2 lots of 2. Obviously thats one more than you need.
Are all 4 consumed when you level the skill?
If not the code might look at your inventory, see you still have some from the previous level and decide to not give you any for the new level till the old lot is done?
The code that chooses whether or not you get the drop may be unconnected to the code that determines the requirement to run the other code... if you see what I mean.

All 4 aren't consumed, I've completed a level with 1 to spare by doing another experimentation while the next level is building. What I've not tried doing is just sticking with the experimentation until I get a bunch of them. It may bug but it may not...

I intended to avoid alchemy during the double event but forgot... it was when I got two research notes that I thought that might sketch things up a bit.
I'll not risk any more till after the event. I've not encountered this bug, and don't want to tempt fate.
