New Companion Ideas

What sort of companions would players be interested in seeing in the Zen market or able to be acquired through events?

As for characters already in-game, I think it might be cool to see Arcane Reservoir Guard companions (incidentally, there is no Achievement available for having all the Reservoir Guards survive with you to the end is there?). The Militia Trainee from Lonelywood might be another candidate.

New companions for the Zen store I can think off the top of my head could include a male dwarven priest of Moradin and a female human or half-elf priestess of Chauntea.

I am very sad that they never added Hook Horrors when we went into Underdark. I know they are generally vicious and not friendly, but I really wanted one as a companion anyway. :(

there was a "fan-made" and Bioware's hook horror in Neverwinter Nights series.

i used them and did reskin to magneta skin tone for "demon bug" monster and spit acid like Asheron's Call' "Olthoi", nasty bug creature, i tried to finish "The Chronicles of Derithians" module adventure, but my old PC encounter nasty virus, and i regret taken to Bestbuy to have Geeksquad to recover some files, but they erased all my work by reformated without my permission, lost my six months of developing my module adventure when it was so close to finish it, lost my will to remake it and only need other person to volunteer for scriptings then i would released.
    i would had trilogy completed.
"The Chronciles of Derethians: Relics of the Ancients"
"The Chronciles of Derethians II: Saga of Shadow Wars"
"The Chroncles of Derethians III: Nexus of Singularity"

starting with Relics, it was about tale of sword of lost light, it was stolen from the crypt, and local was afraid of the ghost appear front of mausoleum, needing a hero to recover the sword, after series of dungeons before final dungeon, "Frore Shard", a nasty frozen like dungeon filled with liches and revenants guarding a large frozen spinning crystal that make eternal winter, similar to our current neverwinter's Ring of Winter. That sword was meant to destroy the shard.
next saga, shadows appears after the shard were destroyed, and they were attemping to break last prison that held lord of shadow, to trick the heroes to break all other 5 Shards of Seals. vaults became more elite dungeons and deadly and heroes need to create new weapon and shard armors to defeat shadows.
then conclusion of trilogy, it became very epic, to defeat energy-like beings from singularity dimensonal plane, as they invade, they turn most of living things into hostile enchanted creatures, magic resistance and immune to physical attacks, only way to defeat them with planar fused "Atlan Weapons" that resist debuff spells, known as "Hollows", like as "vorpal blade" that cut anything planar types.

that was 10 yrs ago when Geek Squad decide to reformat, i never able to recover all that work.

when i playing Neverwinter Online, as i look up, man, i was so dissappointed with this Foundry, it is very poor version and very limited tool menu in Foundery. i see a "lost cause". there wasnt enough textures or creatures needed.

how about having a mirror copy of your character, if summon from a mirror.

or Gensai, planar folks from elemental planes, we all know the "Elemental Evil" isnt finished yet, not until "Temple of Elemental", the final assault to unlock several planar realms, we go to plane of flames to visit City of Brass, the home of genies/efreeti, and other planar city of earth, water and air to liberate the genies from evil elementals.

I have a human "healer" companion. One of the cheap ones. It's a g-d aggro magnet and quite often will attack adjacent mobs whereupon it runs around being hit and doesn't have time to heal me which is its only job. In fact, it finds all kinds of excuses to avoid healing me. And, it thinks it is a tank. When I pull a group of mobs, the stupid pet hits them with a group attack so the mobs run right past me to him. Can someone PLEASE shoot the programmer who programmed this thing. And are there any other healer companions that actually work? Other than the Angel which I will not live long enough to acquire the Astral coins to buy?

other healer pets need redo with arggo issues, Battle Medic are the best to have, that celestail protector isnt seem as healer, just pulling other mobs when i cant handle 6 or more at once.
it need some "leach range" to stay near masters

Doppelganger is a classic D&D monster that isn't in game, though it could make a better challenge for BIS adventurers. Anyone who played the old old 80s Bard's Tale games will remember the horror of having one duplicate your high level Fighter wielding a petrifying Stone Sword...

Lemures, dretches, stench kows... there are a lot of old Fiendish critters that would work with Underdark and ME.

For the current mod Ice Troll Runts, Ice Mephits would fit, as would a return of the Unlucky Anglers.

I like most of the ones we have now. I would rather see something in game similar to SCA so i can actually use all those companions that set and do nothing now. Guess they ride around on all the mounts in my stable that do nothing too. Inactive companions riding stabled mounts off in the Neverlands.......hmmm

At one point they had sgt. know available as a companion. However he's nowhere near my pick for existing NPC's mad into a companion. I got very attached to the Linkletters, that's who I want to adventure with. Joseph as a Defender and Dorothea as a Controller. On a similar note I feel bad that Rhix really doesn't have anything to do anymore, make him a Striker companion. Finally with Portobello's game being based on Acquisitions Incorporated material I would love to have them as available companions, or at least show up in an adventure series.

For generic, unnamed companions I would like to see the following. Confused Ogre (Defender), Gorilla (Defender), Baboon (Striker), Werebear Shaman (Leader), Satyr (Controller), Drunken Master Monk (Controller or Striker), Bunny (Augment), Minotaur (Defender), Ogrillon (Striker), Crawling Claw (Augment or Striker), Cautious Medusa (Controller), and Priests of gods who don't have a companion representative yet.

I just want a Winter Wolf as a companion. They're already in-game as enemies, and we have umpteen horse mounts. Plus with the whole Jon Snow fandom, they'd probably be fairly popular with the right active bonus...

    here some new cool idea.
    any wolf companions,
    1-14 lvl white, standard
15-20 lvl green, "howl" call ability, summon littermate for 5 seconds or 2 bites then fade out, cooldown 1 minite.
21-25 lvl blue, Howl 2", summon 2 packmates, 5 bites then fade, 2 mins cooldown
26-30 lvl purple (epic), "Howl 3", summon 3 mates, 10 bites then fade out, 3 mins cooldown
31-35 lvl (legendary), "Howl 4", summon 4 mates, 15-20 bites (total), then 5 mins cooldown until summon again.
    only trigger per encounter.

I'd like a new type of redcap companion. A giantsoul would be a lot of fun to unleash on unsuspecting enemies

I'm a fan of non-humanoid companions mainly because there's less of a chance for me to get visually confused during high action moments >.>

Still yet to get an actual Orc companion.
  • hellscryehellscrye Member Posts: 10 Arc User
Orc, or even better as there are pc ones, Half-Orc companion. It can be done comically or serious, it matters not. I have two Tiefling companions, and I think 3 qualify as Drow (1 for sure does). I even think I've acquired 3 Dragonborn. Humans, Elves, misc. monsters and so on get representation, but no Orc/Half-Orc.

I'm a bit surprised that there are no goblin companions. I can picture my HR approaching a goblin sharpshooter on Icespire Peak and saying, "I hear you don't like having to do the giants' bidding. Interested in a job? Better pay, better food, warmer weather, and no trolls threatening to eat you."

I'm a fan of non-humanoid companions mainly because there's less of a chance for me to get visually confused during high action moments >.>

There have been many occasions either in Sharandar or in MC where I've had to ask myself, "hmm which powrie is mine?" To me it adds to the fun.

You already obtain 5 mounts for your stable all of who's insignia benefit your character. That means a purple Insignia provides +200 & +100 and blue (rare) provides +100 & +50 with you able to equip 3 insignia on Very Rare Mount that's almost more than the +394 (x2) for a personalized gemmed ring so it's quite the boost already. Plus if you have 5 Very Rare or even EPIC mounts that can be a very nice boost, so I don't suspect we'll see them adding more active mounts.

As for Companions you've always had like 5 active companions (similar to your stable today) who's active bonus as it is described benefit's you regardless if they are the one's summoned or not. A Very Rare companion alone can provide +300 or (+165 x2) to one or two modifiers as well for your character unless the bonus is a buff to healing or damage %'s for you or your companion's.

With 5 Mounts & 5 Companions all contributing their bonus to you in some way I don't suspect they'll be extending this beyond what exists today. But you can always earn more mount who's insignia stay slotted when not in the stable along with their benefit's which then become active once they are in the stable so you can easily change powers & combination rewards if you change your powers around fairly easily. :)

Since they did the Cleric, the Builder would also be a nice idea. Also Harper Boward.

Other than the Angel which I will not live long enough to acquire the Astral coins to buy?

I remember seeing the Angel going for about 50K or so the last time I looked. That's like 5 days of random runs and skirms. The Lillend is a bit better than the Angel though. And for party the battle field medic is better.

If you want an arrgo, use the CW companions. The mobs love them because they are AoE.
