There's only one server for PC. There's also XBox and PS4 - each on their own servers as well. The game is definitely on a downward slope, you might say, and you'll really want to be careful of Cryptic cash-grabs.... but as long as you keep your wallet in your pocket, NW is perhaps the best free-to-play game out there right now. Certianly, the combat and movement controls are unbeatable in the genre.
The only downside to the game is mismanagement - the developers, writers, and artists are all excellent. It's the management layer that has caused all the glaring failures...
Thing is, as a new player you won't see those flaws any time soon - so create a couple characters and have some fun, nothing to lose except your free time and... you know... your soul (muhahaha).
At the moment I realy are getting sick of this game. I do so little dmg as a cleric. As it should be.... But then, the PC server seems to have less and less players in it, every day. To get a better weapon I have to do Heroic events, that I cant do solo..... So I am level 70 and stuck as hell. Only thing I can do is farm Well of Dragons (Still players there), where every now and then a Heroic makes the game crash. And I have to do hunderds of heroics to get the drow armor-set... At least then I dont die that fast, but still have no better weapon..... And cryptics eyes looks only at the newest part of the game, were I cant do anything with crappy gear.
I realy hope the new one at Cryptic can change things. I am a new player myself. 1 month playtime or so. But losing hope fast now. *It was just a fools hope*
So... The game is fun! It realy is. To the point that you have to pay or pray for better times.

@draugul#5785 If it's demonic heroics you're doing for the underdark campaign currency, you could try in dread ring instead, or do the appropriate skirmishes, which seem to give more than heroics, unless you manage to find a decent HE train. The skirmishes also have a chance at some of the best rings in the game.

@obmanta1 If you do decide to try the game out for a bit, I'm going to give a little piece of advice that I suspect the game isn't telling you about. In most of the leveling areas, you might stumble upon someone much higher level than you, fighting (usually demons) inside a lit up circle. Do not enter that circle. This is part of a higher level quest, that the devs for some messed up reason put in lower level areas, and those enemies will kill you with just one attack.
Best of luck, and hope to see you in the game at some point.

First off when you play MMORPGS the Grind comes with this genre, But for the Demonic HE's go to Icewind dale, It is a 1 Instance only map, The Demonic HE's are Always packed there, with no less than 10 players at all times. Also joining a guild would really benefit you in the long run while grinding etc, I would be more than happy to help man, PM me in-game @xaluhnx I am the Guild Leader of [Immortality] And we are here to help!
The problem at the moment is. My Guild falls silent, as more and more players stop playing, leaving behind depressed players. So not that mutch happening anymore. And at Heroics, I often have to find another layer, with enough players to finish the Heroic. As a support class, I need players to support. Try to solo kill a Giant, as a Cleric. Without epic gear... Even with 2 parts of the Drow Gear it still takes a loooooong time. And then... I have done Heroics In the right maps. And still no elemental nodes. So for now, I get the other parts of the drow gear, and then... Maybe I lose hope altogether, or just find some joy again. We will see.
You have to do the Big HE to get a guaranteed mote and unless it's changed Water is the only one people farm like that. Your other options are to get Fire (I assume thats what you're working toward?) seeker wands from the Tradebar vendor, buy the weapon set in the auction house or level artificing to 25 and craft them yourself.

These can be crafted now in Professions - no need to grind them out. They also can be bought off the AH as the crafted pieces are BOE.
If you do decide to give it a go, do not make the mistake of rushing to 70, because imho, the best part (left) of the game is the quest-lines from 1 until Elemental Evil (60)...
leveling character first time to 70 and gearing it to 2k is actually quite fun. After that this game gets VERY boring (repetitive) You are forced to do few repetitive tasks 10k+ times, every day same HAMSTER. If i knew what i know now about this game, i wouldn't start playing it again.
@obmanta1 I would level to 70, don't spend any real money for Zen to start. Just wait till you experience the wonderful world Cryptic's RNG. In the past I would have said at least buy some VIP, bags and a couple character slots. Not anymore!!!
The original game was really fun until Mod 6. Since then its been meh and blah! Until they get rid of or at least tone down HE's (Heroic Encounters), and bring back lost dungeons and create new ones, fix the HAMSTER Foundry, Fix the HAMSTER PvP, and make HAMSTER fishing a profession and NOT a grind fest to upgrade, I would enjoy the F2P as long as I could.
Wait and see where they are taking this game. Atm, lots of solid players and whales have left the game. After 3 years I now log in, get my VIP key and log back off.
We want more than anything, this game to return to its glory that brought us here in the first place.
some players see this isnt RPG as it was, newer team replaced and put RNG element that isnt fun anymore, it is turning into "casino format".
just try avoid buying, it is only pixels and we dont own it, they can unplug this game at anytime without notice or unless they announce when is final day.
other MMO RPG do have better micromanagments and players like specific items, but in here, it all about "gambling" your chances and you always lose most of time, the house always wins. it isnt very nice micromanagement we ever seen, the worst of all. players dont like it and sick of "bait and switch" tactic, some call them too greedy.
just play for free from level 1 to level 70, and then decided to see where you going and are you willing to spend or if not. it is your choice. wonder why i am still here? i am nearly burnout and take a break, but still hoping for major management house clearing they treated the game badly and get the people who really understand what the word " FUN" means, and get back on track and make this game lot better.
Almost no end game content plus shrinking player base equals not much to do and no one to do it with.
The game tanked with mod6 and has never recovered.
0-60 is fun, 60-70 less fun, and at 70 just dailies and rp/ad grind.
If you do play only play for free because after you hit 70 you will quickly forget the fun you had leveling up and will probably quit soon after hitting max level most new players do.
Cryptic really needs to sit down and figure out what makes up fun play.
I think the community has told them loudly that Big HE grind is universally NOT fun, so enough of that.
Last mod they introduced fishing, which is a different format of play with OK rewards. Some like it, some hate it, but it was something new and different to do. Plus for that.
The community is repeatedly telling Cryptic that dungeon runs for (a chance at) worthwhile rewards is fun. So they got a winning recipe presented to them for free.
However dungeons are costly to make, I am not sure Cryptic got sufficient manpower on the game any more to make too many dungeons. We did get FBI and Svaborg recently though. They could however just repopulate the old dungeons, give them some chance at ok rewards, and people would happily grind away.
They have also made it critical to participate in their raids if you want the best items. Unfortunately they are not very good at making raids. And if you actually don't like raids you'll be stuck with mediocre gear and rewards. FBI is proof of this. Finally they make a new 5 player instance (sorry I don't count the hatchet job they did on CN as new) and the community has been very clear that the rewards simply suck for running it.

jeez, don't listen to the fun police here. There is plenty to like in the game. Personally I'm not a fan of Mod 10 but that is only one mod, there is plenty of fun stuff to be had.
Try it for yourself. I say

I don't want to be rude but the information you give is all in the text that you quoted.
No. Re-read his post. The information CP has provided is very pertinent - you don't need to grind for EE weapons anymore. One of the worst grinds in the game removed and probably not one person has shown any appreciation.

I'll make it easier for you by highlighting the key element of it (can't actually quote on my phone) : "...or level artificing to 25 and craft them yourself."

"JUST SAW THE NW GAME, NEVER PLAYED IT BEFORE, IS IT TOO LATE TO [escape]???"
Ftfy. Can't believe I am first with this. But seriously, OP. The combat system is truly fantastic and fun. As @wylonus and many others have said, if you play for free from 0-70 it is a blast. Very fun.
Thereafter it gets... complicated.

I have probably tried every f2p game in the last ten years, Neverwinter still is the most fluid combat out of any of them.. sad but true, unfortunately. Its not even close, I cant think of one other game, even close. Tera isnt, its a fun , differently built combat, but , its not fluid at all.
recently, some of their decisions.. have not at all been popular, there is a declining player-base, from already decimated one, since module 6, which broke their game.
Most of their newest stuff, is lots and lots of pure grind, layered or centered around 1 dungeon, trial or whatever, to finish a few thousands times to get what you want.
HOWEVER, depending on how much you rush things.. you could literally NEVER even get involved with any of that, for UP to a year..
after that, depends on what you are looking at.
I used to tell people to buy vip+mount(s) and spend a 100 or so dollars on the game to advance faster . However, they have limited their VIP, (by alot) lately and this company does not deserve any money at the moment. Nor , would I say spend the money on it. They are clearly marketing to other platforms, whatever advantages to players had , are slowly being stripped away, they are continually making everything more difficult, more time consuming and more gated. This in a attempt , to control all aspects of the game, so that you will basically have to spend money to continue. I used to give them money, but I will not anymore, when you feel forced to spend on a game, its the moment, I stop spending period.
I know I stopped spending, and now my VIP is expired, I feel unshackled from their duplicity. You simply will not get a majority of kind answers at the moment, maybe even 3 months ago, things were looking up, but the advent of mod 10, as started killing a rather small population to even a smaller one. There are always new players, but out of say 100 new players, maybe ten arrive at level 70 and stick around.. most see a trans vorpal for 6-7 million AD and figure something else to do (and heck enchants are not even the hard part of this game anymore)
Its always possible to get whatever you want, but I would say, do it for free, they change things here ALOT recently,, I mean alot, buyign something today, might mean tomorrow its worthless, thats EVERY mmo anyways, but MOST dont change thigns up to 3 or 4 times in one year (hello SW class)
If i would start now i would play the quest line, no rush thing the leveling is still nice to play, o dont recall any other mmo withn that good questline till "almost" last level (60) so play your way and enjoy the ride till you hit 60 , then get a guild and rush a bit to 70 since this part is really anoying...
after that you will start the real grinding, i've spent some mony in this game but i think you shouldn't place money before seeing the lv 70 stuff, lots of people can't stand becaus is where you start to see the "paywalls" you have to grind like hell to get AD for enchantments and this is a loooong term playing (or expensive for buying)
i cant stand the PVP (any of it) and we have now really few dungeons to run... but it wont bother you for a long time...
in the end, in my opinion 1 - Yes it worth playing really good combat and story to leveling 2 - No is not worth to spend real money here (atm there are to many changes...) maybe a wide account purple mount but i would not spend more than that these days...
I will place my opinion as well... The game was awesome before level 70, Even after level 70 i think the game can be still fun to play.
For a person like myself who has limited gaming time per night i will just take it easy,
I plays NWO like a single player game with multiplayer option.. I will join in story line campaigns to get campaign rewards balance of my gaming time will probably do a couple of dungeons/raid runs with friends and guildies...sometimes i can do only afford to do one or the other.
The key is meeting the right community and some say join the right guild and have fun together and YES NWO still have many helpful and nice people around just look at the numbers of helpful replies you get..
As for the grind, i would say is still OK if you are not going for the best items , Majority of the content can be played with gear score of 2500 and max requirement was 3200, To reach those requirement was not that hard also the average content was not that difficult .
Most of the grief around these days are due to grinding for "legendary" status or BIS (Best in Slot) gears, if you were just wanted to make a toon to have fun with just epic gears you be fine.
in the end, my opinion was same as above.... 1 - Yes it worth playing really good combat and story to leveling 2 - No is not worth to spend real money here (atm there are to many changes...)
