sorry i haven't been playing long enough to know the in's and outs just yet
i'm a spell storm-thaumaturge build
http://mmominds.com/2016/08/20/fnhusa57-pure-dps-control-wizard-mod-9-spellstorm-mage/

I don't have all the boons and stuff yet from the campaigns but
not sure how i can really improve since most epic dungeon groups fall apart by the end boss so getting gear is a pain.

str 13
con 11
dex 13
INT 28
WIS 16
CHA 23

my gear-
dusk assault helm-azure rank 8
dusk raid robes-azure rank 7
drowcraft armlets-azure rank 8
orb of elemental fire rank 18-dark rank 8
elemental tailsman rank 19-dark rank 7
drowcraft shoes-azure rank 8
cloak of the emissary of neverwinter-dark rank 7
ring of rising deflect 4-savage rank 6/radiant rank 8
ring of rising fortitude 3-azure rank 8
high-quality exquisite aberrant belt of piercing
high-quality exquisite elemental shirt
drowcraft tights-silvery rank 8

my stats-
power 7358
crit strike 6150-crit chance 36.4/crit severity 75%
armor pen 3824-ignore resist 39.6
recovery 2270
defense 2572
deflect 530
regen 239
life steal 896
recharge speed 35.4%
AP gain 12%
tell me how i should rearrange this or where to get better gems, this s*** is expensive and hard to come by.

I'd also like to know. I keep getting destroyed in epic dungeons and skirmishes. I followed the most popular CW build but I still feel like my damage is subpar.

Get a mount to boost your power. Also improve your enchantments, you should have 8+ if not 10+ if you are a dps class.

I am running Ironzerg's CW build currently. It's an SS Renegade build though so you'd have to consider a respec, but it is pretty beastly so far.

I have heard great things about the "Death and taxes" pure DPS SS Thaum build posted on mmominds and will be trying it on another character.

I was considering going renegade myself but it's too bad MoF is so underpowered compared to SS
but getting nearly 120k AD is a pain for me.

Both of those builds are SS. I have 5 characters, so I am planning on trying the Death and Taxes build, as well as one MoF just for fun.

They also discuss proper gearing/enhancing suggestions. But, I haven't gotten most of it just yet, as I am still only lvl 66.

I opened 20 LB the first week with early access, I bought the boots pack got an additional key and bought 6 month membership and have been getting 1 key every day.

I have gotten mostly professional pack with mostly GREEN professions items. I literally have zero luck. I had to buy all of my marks to upgrade most of my enchantments up to 8's and I'm not looking forward to making some of these 9's given how bad my luck has been getting these enchantments to 8.

A guild mate who opened just as many LB have gotten so much better stuff than I have and is why his IL is around 2800 vs. mine being at 2500. Also, I get the lowest amount of trade bars per a LB. I have absolutely no luck with them, NONE!

If I could sell my keys for 25K AD I would.

@slygamer79 your RI is too low for epics, you need to get it to -55%. Without that most of your damage is being negated by their armor.

Restructure your gear priorities to compensate then get a dread weapon enchantment for extra crit damage from your encounters.

edit: swap out both of your rings for Gemmed Exquisite Rings of Piercing. They will give you 394 power & 394 armor pen and can be personalised via the Jewelcrafting profession so they become double slotted. Neither of the rings you're currently using are doing you any good.

Also, you didn't say if you are using a companion. If you aren't or you are but you don't have bonding runestones (or have ones below rank 9) then I'd suggest you get an ioun stone for now. The cheapest is 1k zen but you may find a better price on the AH - you'll get 100% of the stats you put on the ioun/augment so you can improve your power and lifesteal too.

Also, right after you get jewelcrafting to 25 you need to switch to Tailoring and make your own gemmed exquisite shirt & pants, they are better than the drow ones and have a gem slot.

You should also change your neck & belt. I'd recommend Valindra's as the belt adds points to INT & CHA and if you have the full set you receive a 15% boost to CC. If they aren't cheap you may need to farm Valindra's (once you get your RI over 55%)

I think you are suppose to get drowcraft < alliance < elven

You get drowcraft by farming throne and prophecy of madness. You get alliance from the same and elven from encounters like demogorgon.

The first thing you need to do is go through all the armor in the collections tab and work out which items give you the best stats and are currently achievable - e.g. if you're not in a guild doing dragons then dragonflight is a no - so look at drow, dusk & elven piece by piece.

Your rings, shirt & pants you can make yourself via Jewelcrafting and Tailoring but you should also check current pricing on the AH as you may get a reasonable price there.

Decide on which artifacts, neck and belt you need, look up their current prices and buy what you can afford & save for the rest. I recommend Valindras neck & belt. You didn't say which artifacts you're using but you need dps and maybe some lifesteal & CC so things like CW sigil, Lantern, Valindra's, Lostmauth's Horn, Kessel's Sphere (alternative to lantern). You can see a list of them HERE Obviously some of these are not free but hopefully you chose the Lantern from the artifact quest and not the Catalogue like almost everyone does on their first character... and of course the CW sigil is free.

Use Dark enchantments in your offence slots until you get enough RI from other sources, then swap them out for Azures.

Companions are another huge part of the picture - you're looking for ones that either give you a % boost to damage output or an increase in crit severity or combat advantage. The ones that give you 50 points here and 100 points there are ineffective gap fillers. Your summoned companion is only useful if you put Bonding Runestones on them. Try to use a companion that has 3 offence slots and preferably attacks at range so they don't die every 3 seconds.

Lastly, you don't need to buy zen with $$, when you need it just save up and convert it. I haven't spent any real money on the game for maybe 16 months? Even then I only bought keys with it.

Oh and definitely read the link shared by @thefabricant it's an excellent source of knowledge for how the class works.

sorry i suck at keeping up with all the upgrading, yesterday all i was doing was dailies & farming day of the DM for the beholder tank,

sigil of the controller rank 32
    belial's portal stone rank 37
    bruenor's helm rank 29
    lantern of revelation rank 29

i posted my companions in another post here somewhere.
  • armadeonxarmadeonx Member Posts: 4,952 Arc User
They're not bad. I'd swap out the Bruenors for either Shard Of Valindras or Lostmauth Horn (or similar) at some point but it's no biggie - you do need to get all of them to rank 60 asap though. Throw all enchantments you come across into them for now or if you've got a 2x RP on your calendar you can save them for then. Dont use refining stones, save them for the 2xRP even if it's not on your calendar.

Note that you do not need runestones on companions that you don't intend to summon - but you should have 3x bonding runes on the one you do summon. You can put all the spare ones into your artifacts

ok so does anyone have a link to a site that lists all available wizard gear that i can get ? because i'm not having any luck finding a list of gear and where to get them, honestly this week i've lost some motivation to even get more geared given how 95% of my epic groups don't kill the final boss in any dungeon so getting gear is a pain in the HAMSTER.

    side note campaign progress
Elemental Evil 80%-still can't find quest to kill crumblechasm
Maze Engine 43%-working on biding time 9/10 dailies done
    Underdark 40%
Tyranny of dragons 60%-form of the dragon not sure what i do or where to go for this
    Sharandar 0%-HAMSTER
    Dread Ring 81%
    Icewind Dale 26%

The quest is called "The Verge of Collapse" and it's given by Brother Satarin.

You could really do with joining a guild with experienced leadership. Maybe @thefiresidecat has room for you? She's is a very experienced player and knows the CW very well - and her guild has boons ;)

There's not really an up-to-date wiki type list of CW gear, well there is a list but it contains all the old stuff too so would confuse you. Just go to your menu and look for the option that says "collections". That will show you artifacts and gear for your class. You should invest some time reading up every section in there, get familiar with it as it's very useful.
