Old player. How do CWs stack up now DPS-wise?

I quit after the pre-mod 9 nerfs hit and CWs were only above Paladins on DPS. I was thinking about coming back and wondered where they stand.

Nah, I worded that wrong. I quit just after the eLoL set nerf when the DPS order was:

    GWF>SW>>>>HR/TR/GF>>DC>CW>>>>>>OP.

No trolling. Genuinely curious. I've been gone 6 months or so, vowing not to be a glorified buff HAMSTER. So, did they find a balance? Do CWs have a shot at the top slot? Did they make CC stronger?

We're still waiting on the SW and GF nerfs. SW will come down the list and I believe the HR will get a small bump upwards. The GWF has has a bit of a 'fix' but it's barely noticeable really. The Lostmauth nerf has reduced the set's dps output for all classes to the point where people are ok with using other sets, with the Orcus set being the new BiS.

The CW's position is still down the list but in the trash mobs of edemo and CN the ability to insta-freeze is very useful although their effectiveness on the bosses for both areas is less useful than other classes.

The upcoming GF nerf will limit ITF to a fixed bonus, removing the DC+GF uber-buffing, this may have the impact of making the OP more desirable than it has been but most OP players still haven't figured out than threat generation is tied to dps output...

A solid SS Thaum build with single target feats plus 5 points in Icy Veins delivers good DPS plus instant control but it still won't compete with the GWF. The question is where the SW nerf will put them in the pecking order.

For CC to be stronger you really need your CC bonus maxed at 1k, plus Underdark has a bonus feat for demons - only useful in edemo ofc.

im still on elol set for my CW, most of the time im 1st on dealing dmg (25m-35m), even out dmg some HR 3.5k>, GWF 4.1k in thrones...(i was thinking to my self he probably had a very bad build or something). i started topping the board around 2.5k ilvl , guild only had AP & DEF boon. Highest point my power could go is around 22k i think and crit at 14k, AP maybe 7k, nothing really special about it tho..

I don't see how it's possible that you as a 2.5 CW beat out a 4.1 GWF. Unless their controller was dead the entire time, I don't thinks that is true. A BiS CW can contend with a BiS GWF, SW is broken so they don't count. But for a regular 2500 CW, it will not come close to the DPS of a GWF/HR. It will almost always out DPS a TR though.

Its a controller class not a striker. You probably picked it in mod 4/5 when it was for some stupid reason the highest DPS. Come back or don't. But being top dps shouldn't be your main concern.
    Lash Urzoth 3.7k GWF, Pr3sTiGe 3k SW.

thats the thing that i always find my self amazed, when you see a 3k-4k come inspecting you after the battle, only time that i take 2nd place is if there is another CW that has similar build and gear. Just a reminder this is based on Thrones, CW hits lot of enemies at the sametime, if i do enough dmg i would assume it takes the dmg point away from other players, so its probably why they have less points in dmg?

The clerics version of Thrones is heaven for a decently built CW. All the enemies come to you and you can just aoe-aoe-aoe. I usually top the board by a significant margin there too. It's a different story in CN where there's lots of running, smaller groups and single target boss fights.

Epeen Damage tables are pretty meaningless the objective is a win and getting everyone to play their part, its not COD :)

You would need to be more specific, a lot more. There are all sorts of factors that determine which class can do the most dps. Mob density, party make up, gear of your party, dungeon difficulty/length of mobs life, etc. Just an example, if you're playing with a high gear tank and first strike rogue on a low density t1 dungeon, you might get almost 0 damage until bosses. On the other hand, low item score paladin in a high density t2, you could end up with the most by a landslide
