refining

Why is it that we start collecting all of the items to do refining at such low levels, except potency? It seems every refining process needs a mark of potency of some sort and you have to be able to do epic dungeons in order to receive them. Am I missing something? I'm really asking. I'm new to the game and have enjoyed it so much but I still fail to understand having all of these refining items fill up bag/bank space while having to wait until I am at a level to complete epic dungeons. If I am mistaken please feel free to point it out to me. And if anyone has a good site that shows refining recipes, please post it.

Epic dungeons don't drop them, most drop from lockboxes or events that have refiners caches, also Dread Ring which is a lvl 70 area has towers that has a possibility to have them in the final chest, but a small chance. I'd suggest running 2 cloak towers on each character (assuming you have more than one) and using the AD earned to buy the marks needed from traade house when you're low lvl. Once 70 you can farm dread ring and hopefully get the marks needed from there

Off topic completely, but do you seriously have 17 toons?

I think pre level 70, the assumption is the game play guides you through the quests and the leveling up happens closer to end game. I think when I started, I didn't even realize I could refine my artifact until I was level 60. And other than artifacts, which I think you can only have two of, and they don't need GMOP to go blue, what are you trying to level pre lvl 70? There is always the AH...

I thought it was odd to have all the refining stones and other marks drop from like level forty or so and not be able to use them until I am level seventy. Perhaps I am wrong.

16 altogether to farm AD, refinement and for the extra bank space

Use them to level artifacts from green to blue and by the time you hit 70 they should be close to purple, then the marks needed you'll farm for or buy from trade house
