Prophecy of Madness

Look I have to be honest here. The game play on this skirmish is terrible. I absolutely hate this skirmish and will never play it again once I receive the crit ring. Don't be fooled by the number of people plying it. Everyone I have talked to hates prophecy. The game play is to long and it takes more effort than Epic Demo to complete. To top it off all you get for a gold run hitting top dps is a +1 ring. Honestly the grind on this skirmish has made me consider quiting several times since its launch. To progress I need the ring. To get the ring I have to play madness blind. No idea if or when the ring I need will drop. Things like this were why several people including myself quit playing destiny. If you are not careful cryptic the same thing will happen to you. You are trying to create inflated game times by lowering rng of wanted items. This will only last so long. Eventually your clients will realize that their efforts are futile and stop playing all together.

This is just my take on things but in my experience when I start feeling this way the majority of the population has too.

Why would you "need" the ring? The personalized rings from Jewelcrafting are still BiS. Do you just want the ring just because?

For many players, that is no longer true. The special effects of some rings more than compensates for the lost stats and slot for some players.

Obsolete? Have you read any of the builds of the STRONGEST characters in the game (across PC and XBOX)? 99% of those builds use the Personalized Rings. But by all means, if you "think" the personalized rings are trash then that's fine. And maybe you think you have the strongest whatever class, and that's perfectly fine.

Sure, some really strong characters may use the Underdark rings. But the overall sure thing BiS are still the personalized rings.

This of course is just my opinion.

I'm on board with personalized are obsolete. the crit and power ring +4 and +5 have two slots and are much more useful in most cases. I'm grinding for plus 4 or 5 focus for my dc and pally.

They mentioned that the +5 power and +5 crit are Ideal, in other words BiS, BUT they don't like the grind :3

Personally i also do not like Madness much. I like more than throne infiltration on the simple fact that its not glitched at least, but i agree with you guys that its way too long for the small reward i usually get. The closing green portal variant is at least a bit more bearable, still really long, but the madness one really annoy me SO MUCH. Im only doing prophecy for the 25 time achievement now, since i got gold on both variant. Once i get the cheevos, i won't be doing this much. Maybe once in a while if friends wanna do it and such, but it won't be a regular thing.

Throne on the other hand if it wasn't glitched would annoy me way less...

if it's not a +5 or +4 rings then yeah the personalized rings would be better

If all your after is the rings then get a group together and just get bronze then suicide each phase, bronze silver or gold don't matter as long as you get at least bronze and have a key for the chest at the end, other wise prophecy is just mind numbing

Sorry to interrupt your post - but yes like shamrok said - doesn't matter if you get bronze, silver, or gold final result it's still totally random for the rings. I've had a +5 legendary ring drop on bronze and 2 +1 rings drop on gold.

Since we're talking about Prophecy though, for those of you that have been grinding it. Have you come across the Ring of Natural Order? I don't care if it's +1, 2,3,4, or +5 Just trying to confirm that it is indeed included in the xbox content. I've been farming underdark with 2 toons probably close to 50 runs on each of them and not a single ring of natural order - not even a +1

If any of you have seen one or been lucky enough to get one to drop, would love to see a screen shot to confirm it's existence in this ridiculous skirmish.

I don't think that ring ever made it out of alpha and preview into live. It was so broken it was pulled from PC release. Unless they found a way to fix it and it is now on PC, it has never been in any version of the game.

Edit: Was catching up on the Preview forum and Teramack (a developer) said on March 8th that it was was dead for The Maze Engine release. So, the ring has never been on any version of Neverwinter on a live shard.

I still don't understand how in Prophecy a Silver-Silver-Gold ranking can lead to gold yet on throne its not the case... Seem like Prophecy is much more generous...

Thanks for answering this. Hopefully it can get removed from the collection page so it can quit taunting me

I enjoy Prophecy. Once I finish my dailies I fill my time with it waiting for Tiamat. I gott my +4 crit, and get +3 or +4 rings at least 40% of my runs. Those salvage for 6K. Most runs I get at least one ring, minimum 3K. At over 9K an hour minimum, what's the problem?

Why would you "need" the ring? The personalized rings from Jewelcrafting are still BiS. Do you just want the ring just because?

With the hit rate of Trickster Rogue, 1350 crit is better than any of the personalized rings.

These skirmishes were created with more of a group base mentality. rather than rushing in, melting everything, and carrying a selected few.

The main issue is not feeling like we are getting rewarded for doing better or taking part of a gold completion. Gold rewards are very much similar to the rewards of bronze and even silver and thus cause a lack of effort or trying all together.

Since the Underdark release I've ran multiple skirmishes and Demo runs every day and only got 1 +5 ring to date, on a silver medal!

It's a bit weird - I got gold in throne today with a silver-gold-gold but it's the first time I received gold with that combo...

The fact is the crit rings +4 and better do more DPS on high crit builds hands down. I tested and seen personally; ran beside a guild mate with almost 200 GL less then me have him topped on all my stats and time after time he tops me after his rings stack. @posted builds allot of them are not updated and those who are its there preference you need to try for yourself to compare.

Just because your friend has less gear score than you it doesn't mean he's also supposed to deal less dmg/ dps.
Feats, skill rotation and powers affect your dps more than gear score does.
Gear score isn't a good dps factor anyway. A perfect weapon enchantment has about the same item level as 1 big jewel kit.

Update... So I lucked out like a mo fo and got the +5 crit ring. (Second place on a silver run no less, so who ever said something about getting one on bronze run is not lying. The only plus to gold is you get two rings guaranteed. Other brackets only guarantee one ring in the chest. The rings will still be anywhere from +1 - +5. The +5 crit ring It is amazing and definitely BiS. Now for one of the +5 power ring.

P.s. This still doesn't change my opinion of prophecy. The gameplay is atrocious.

It's too slow paced is the problem. The idea is fine but the enemies need to spawn faster. Like at the beginning of the second phase, when every portal is open. That is fun.
