How to calculate items' prices in gold?

I used to buy Greater Mark of Potency with 250 gold each from other players. And a friendly guy just sold me one for 200 gold and said only scammers want to sell for 250 gold each. His words inspired me to try to figure out currency calculation.

Is there a reliable way to calculate items' prices in gold accurately?

    People can ask whatever price they want. You don't have to buy it. Price goes up and down. Selling in the higher price does not make one as scammer. That was one person's opinion.

    Not really. The problem is that for a lot of people gold has literally no value because of VIP. You basically have to find someone that actually needs gold and haggle with them.

    Thanks for all the inputs. It's true that the market is very fluctuating because undercuts happen all the time. In the future, I think I can adjust the price at any time according to the market and don't have to be so rigid in price.

    Btw, by comparing the results of currency conversion between Priceless Platinum Bowl and Potion of Superior Healing on Auction House, I just found that the result from Potion of Superior Healing is closer to the price I paid for GMoP and Priceless Platinum Bowl is apparently being overpriced. For you who want to convert AD to gold at the moment, buying Potion of Superior Healing is more profitable.

    GMoPs typically have buyers at 250g though some offer only 200g (today I saw a guy selling 'em for 350g). Based on that you can calculate the prices for other stuff... 250g ~ 20000AD

    People actually give you useful stuff for gold ? Like GMOPS ? What they do with the gold after that ?

    There's only two types of players that would offer that much. First are idiots and the others cannot be discussed here on the forums. Either way, I'm still not selling.
    Well honestly, with Major injury at 1gold = 120 AD -> 1k gold = 120k AD (before AH 10% tax -> 1k gold = 108k AD)
    Perhaps not 1200 gold but I would have paid 800-900 per SMOP. Still will.
    And if someone accumulated a lot of gold or want to trade guild gold for something useful but not hassle with the gold trade, overpaying sounds plausible.

    Though all this 50 - 100 or even 250 gold trades sounds like a lot of work. Easier to run SoT 2 times. Or edemo for salvage.

    They could use it to unslot a Rank 5 Rune/Enchant for 2 Gold 50 Silver or they could give it to their Stronghold Coffer as a donation or they could buy 50 Rank 1 Mounts from the stable or. . .
