Question on companion

Hello all,

In your folks opinion what is the best companion for tanking. I am looking for one that can tank and agro mobs for my TR. I do not wish to have my TR doing the tanking if at all possible.

    Earth Archon is said to be the best tank companion.

    is not but is definitelty the cheapest by far and does its job well

    as a tr i find myself well covered by any companions, strikers defenders does not matter...
    my shadow demons is enough to lostmauth scorpions for example

    Galeb Duhr, Earth Archon, Young Yeti and War Dog are the best defender options IMO.

    I use a Black Ice prospector for his active + threat on companion and my young yeti tanks pretty much whatever I need. He's tanked Lostmauth Scorps and Lostmauth like a pro as an example. I put some regular bondings on the yeti and just switch over whatever pieces (Loyal Avenger ect) on to him. I use my yeti on my TR if I need a little help not getting run over in IWP or if I'm hanging out with another squishy class (Like a CW) so I won't dump threat all over them.​​

    I never used an Eart Archon but can confirm that Geleb is an absolute boss in Elol scorps...It's so fun to watch as he's standing in the middle of all that hellhole and just punching around :)

    It's expensive though....you're all good with Yeti which is much cheaper on the AH.

    If u have manies for upgrade, always go yeti. Perfect bonding proc, great tank.

    His Dam buff stacks too, am usually too concerned with my rotations to look at how many stacks there are but I've seen 3, that's a 30% dam increase which means more hate, more threat. If you are a GF using Villain's Menace you can grow to enormous sizes, especially if you also have the Dread Warrior companion too.

    Yeah, but thats mostly for tanks, KV/DP up + those 2 companions and u r big as dragon if not bigger, happend to me once i could step on that stupid lol and just squash it, waste its not viable option :P

    But for dps class he is great offtank, whatever gets agrroed be him, it wont go after u anymore, outside of ET use i guess. Also, even if u r not being attacked u still can get outraged, coz whenever summoned companion gets his dps boost, u also get it.

    U just need to spend 750k to make him at least purple.

    question about those companions why they are truly immortals? even if a paladin if standing in front a scorpion doing nothing will die. Those companions are immune to damage or something?

    Its not a secret that defender companions purple+ have skill called Master Defender, which makes them 100% immune to AOE dmg.

    There r other master skills, like Master Striker gives companion 100% LS chance with 100% crit sev chance.

    Oh i know.

    Good player does not have bad moments, and even if he does, there is 4 other ppl to save the day.

    Not my fault/problem u dont know good OPs tho. And just FYI no endgame wants OP over DC/GF, so the comparison is wrong to begin with. OP can be good as 4th buffer, if u already have dc/gf/mof cw, but overall, we dont bother with those (sorry nyriel/vorg/sharp/remus QQ).
