that all the fun, looked-forward-to, 5-player instances for zones were removed from the game?
If so, why?
It is getting monotonous just doing quick runs in the queue, and the main storylines.
I have these red text quests waiting to be fulfilled.

The removed dungeons WILL be coming back. They have stated this time and time again, but people can't seem to listen. I do believe that it's even been hinted that at least some of them will be back with Mod 9, if not sooner.
My opinions are my own. ...listening works all right. Since 8 months.
Just the delivery is lacking, and hence belief is faltering and cynicism and sarcasm rule the field - but so far the dev team couldn't be taunted nor trolled into making it happen. So the question seems to be: Will it happen on a similar timescale that killing Osama bin Laden has happened... ...or on that the disbanding of the Guantanamo prison camp does happen?
Politics aside:
I fail to see why nothing actually does happen. With all that map recycling this year's "new" modules seem to consist of, why can't they include any of the old dungeons in an adapted, seperate-queue, module specific version (together with reworked, classical, 1-60-storyplot- and epic-Lvl-70-classical versions)?
Instead we're sent out to take our overgeared Lvl-70 superheroes to wreck lower level HEs. Yay, another HE! Lo! Behold, variety, it's an HE I haven't yet been coerced into infiniGrinding(TM) hundreds of times during the module before... :^/
It's getting extremely boring in here. Do something about them dungeons already...

They have stated this time and time again, but time and time again they have not delivered. So actually people are listening, just not the way you want them to. When one is given empty promises for 8 months, then the rational response to this is to call it a lie.

This is just like the 50% zen market sales; no believed they were going to happen. Sometimes you have take off the tinfoil hat.
No its not, I fail to see any comparison at all. Why are people even trying to defend this ? The dungeons have been gone for so long now and the best one hears is "they will be back soon" all the time.

...actually, it has changed to "They _shall_ return!".

Sure it is.
Months before the sale everyone sees it and then the tinfoil hat crew comes in saying it's never going to happen because Cryptic is evil or and took their stapler or something. Now Cryptic is saying the dungeons are coming back and OMFG CRYPTIC YOU TOOK MY STAPLER I'LL NEVER BELIEVE YOU.

unfortunately they blow.
I will say the gorgon fight is semi sorta fun though.
I have Lair of the Mad Dragon, Throne of Idris, and I remember the orc one in the tower that wasn't even offered.
