Can't advance in Stronghold Dungeoneering Here's how you can.

grogthemagnifgrogthemagnif Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,651 Arc User
Six step process:

1. Start a new character, preferably in an unused slot
2. Advance to level 20 and get invited to your Guild.
3. Accept the 4 point power shard of Dungeoneering to do 3 player Cragmire Crypts.
4. Do the Dungeon
5. Repeat 3 & 4 Daily until you are level 41(then switch to 3 player Grey Wolf Den) or level 55 (then switch to 3 player Temple of the Spider).
6. Continue until you are level 60 then strip the character of everything of value that is not BtC , give what you can to the Guild coffer, distribute the rest to your alts, delete the character and go back to step 1.

That's certainly one way of doing it.

Yes, it is one way to do it. A pity that I am unable to do it that way, due to a problem with some spells and my graphics card not working well together. If CWs would not use icy terrain or icestorm in closed instances I would be okay, but if they use them my framerate drops to nothing for close to a minute. And this is at any settings in the game, so not something I am going to ask others to do.

Off topic, but some tips that might help with your issue. Reinstall Direct X and change the version of Direct X that Neverwinter uses (in the settings) to Direct X 9.0c. Also update your graphics card's drivers if you haven't done so already. If that doesn't work, it may be time to upgrade.

On topic: Thanks for the advice, I'm the only person in my guild who contributes dungeon shards at the moment (very small and inactive guild), so this will help a great deal.

If your guild is having this as a gate in SH, you might as well not try. This is actual one requirement that isn't that bad.

It is not so easy when you only have 1 active member in your guild. Most everything else is doable through regular game play, but not those shards, as they take teaming up with people. There are still people that like guilds but still prefer to play solo.

And if the dungeoneer's shards were not needed to get my marketplace to level 2, as you need it for the quarry and guildhall level 4, then I would not worry about it too much. That is really all I am trying to get to, to be honest.

Time for you to inspire the rest of your Guild to complete Dungeons together.

Not to brag, but our guild on any given weeknight has at least one guild party hitting T1 and t2 dungeons, and weekends 3-4 teams doing one or more. The dungeoneering shards aren't gushing, but we're keeping things progressing reasonably. Yes, you can grind it out with lowball toons, but as others indicated, you'd be better off just finding a more active guild.

A little difficult in that, since the other members of my guild have not played since Mod 4-5. They left after the problems with the dragonborn packs, well the offering at two different prices stuff.

And I can not run closed instances group content. Well I can until a CW uses icestorm or icy terrain, after that I am stuck. So I wait until I can get enough zen to buy the packs to buy the shards. And I have done everything suggested to fix it, and it does not. But too it could be my internet connection as I live in a rural area, with not the best ways to connect to the internet.

Or better, just quit and play another game if you think doing something that horrible and redundant is how you have to play this game now.

The only thing really worth aiming for in SH is to get marketplace to rank 4. I'd say it's almost impossible to do it alone, and don't bother wasting you time doing this, unless you really enjoy it and/or want a very difficult challenge.

Otherwise you should find a bigger guild to join, and save your resources on that guildhall. If you prefer to play solo, this SH expansion isn't for you. Since the only thing you can really enjoy in there are the HE's. A lot of building upgrade requires AD, and you're better off spending that on something else.

Have the gear and skills, but lack the friends to play with? Come and apply for Essence of Aggression. We have been here and strong since beta. (Immature, rude, and arrogant people will not be accepted)

I'm doing it solo (mainly) because the Strongholds content gives good EXP, and it's nice to have something to work towards. I just want to take it as far as I can. I'm not interested in the slight upgrade in gear, although I recently got the rank 1 marketplace, and I'm enjoying the food.

I run a lot of dungeons and campaign dailies anyway, so often the stronghold reward is just an added bonus to something I was doing anyway.

gear is mostly meaningless, I will grant you that, its not the gear, its the boons that count and you will basically never get there.

There are many active guilds that would love another active participant in strongholds.

  • rickcase276rickcase276 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,404 Arc User
The gear is not totally meaningless. If you are not able to run dungeons, the gear you can get at level 2 marketplace is still better than the Thayan Servitor or the armor you can buy in Sharandar. It is marginally better than the black ice armor too, but just barely (the GF armor to me is worse), But as the upcoming drowcraft armor is much much better, and not going to be that hard to get, it may be a moot point.

Also you may pickup level 60-70 armor which you can donate to the Guild SH coffer along with the AD, once refined.
  • rickcase276rickcase276 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,404 Arc User
I think he was more meaning that the guild armor and the dragonflight armor is not the best armor in the world. More guilds are wanting to get the boons than they are really worried about any of the armors you get from the marketplace. But for me, most of my characters need the guild armors, as most of them are wearing level 70 blues.

I'm doing about 1 level a day so it may take 10 characters to do 400 shards, but it's better than doing nothing.
