Getting nothing but copper in Sword Coast Adventures.

stabbathstabbath Member Posts: 350 Arc User
Since getting my companions to rank 20, their cap, and doing level 3 and 4 missions in SCA I've been getting mostly copper as a reward, not items hardly. When I do get items, it's nothing better than when I was doing lower level missions. Was hoping for something better than this. Is this working as intended or am I having some extremely bad luck?

The good stuff is at Tier 6. You only need blue companions leveled to 30 to successfully run Tier 6: purple companions help a bit, but are not necessary.

For some reason each tier is not only higher difficulty but as if you were at a different character level: Tier 3 drops Seals of the Lion, Tier 4 drops Seals of the Pegasus, etc. At Tier 6 you will get Seals of the Unicorn and level 60 potions and professions resources.

But the reason for running Tier 6 is the companion gear -- and nowadays, the rAD.

i have been getting "daily rolls" with 8 and less in last 2 weeks, not even land at 16 or natural 20 in ages, been getting poor rolls when there is Black Dragon epic dungeon for elusive thief, "lightfoot", it need natural 20 to get him pop up as a prize.

also with companion gears, i had asked Devs to change and stop the items going back into your bags when switching the "pets". wish they stay with companions just like they kept thier runes. (please!!! devs!).
it get annoying to find and placing companion gears, tired of moving them around. these are unsalvageables and no values. the good ones are hard to find for specific gears for specific pets we have.

Do you have a source for this statement? Either the roll of 20 or the Black Dragon dungeon.

Hamlet, there is old old post about "lightfoot" topic, i was told, some had tried 200 times and never got it, and until one just revealed, you can find him under "Massive Pile of Golds/Treasures in Black Dragon epic dungeon, that was my only info i got and the lucky poster claim he got it with roll of 20 and he got it.
any other rolls on 19 and less, he a no-show even you win and beat dungeon and the boss. it is very elusive pet.

Wait, are you saying that the droprate of the thief is affected by your daily reward when you log into the gateway? Sounds more like someone is linking an outcome with an unrelated cause.

ura, look up old topic, "Lightfoot", one of poster claim that is base on daily rolls. i have yet to get a 20 and get black dragon on same day, so i cant confirm, sorry. hope someone can.
i had a 20 almost a year ago, but my pets wasnt able to get deep.

my opinion with Gateway, they need to add new rewards, Companion Tokens would be nice to get, i am tired of those "XP scrolls/books" and most of my pets are capped currently and need promotions to next ranks.

my advice, if you get Black Dragon dungeon pop up and if the roll not at 20, dont go in, it will stay for weeks until you land a 20, then go for it.

That could also just mean that it's another thing in this game where you have a 1% or less drop rate.

Yes, this is just superstition, like me only upgrading enchantments when I have "Gambler's Fortune" from invocation blessings.

The only time I got a Lightfoot Thief it was the Witch end boss, I forget her name. It's a random, very low chance -- nothing to do with end boss or what dice you rolled (before playing).

Is the thief prize bound to the character? I have a new main and would like that character to have it, but that character doesn't have good companions like my old main (who got hacked real bad, so I re-rolled). Hmm. Why do they censor h a c k ed? It was censored until I went to edit, then it's not censored. Weird. Anyway, I don't want to break the rules, but having a hard time coming up with a term to replace it.

Isn't the thief pretty bad? They're going for 500k+ on the AH because the drop rate is so low.

(and mostly because people are too stupid to try to get what they're worth)

Give a bleed effect to an attack that your character does if I understand correctly. I may not. Anyway, I have all white companions on my new main, so any green, blue or purple is welcome for sword coast adventures. Well, if you can sell in the ah then they aren't bound to character, so thanks for mentioning that.

You can get a blue with glory (pvp), and a blue with elemental seals (level 70 skirmishes and dungeons). You may be able to buy a blue water archon for cheap in the AH (I've seen the entire supply suddenly vanish, resulting in them being temporarily expensive). They're pretty useless (extra damage when target is at full health? PATHETIC), that's why they're cheap, and also not really worth saving up for the epic/purple version. Frost mimics are green and fairly cheap. I've completed tier 6 sca's with the aforementioned 3 blues and the generic (white) Man At Arms. It's not a very good chance, though, as it basically requires the Man At Arms to actually win one to three encounters (possible, but with low odds, if you throw him at ones that are heavy on perception and combat), and for the game to not throw really bad skill check combinations at you--those three blues are in trouble on anything that requires significant amounts of both perception and magic. I haven't tried running a frost mimic instead of the Man At Arms (it also has 2 red dice at its natural rank cap, plus a third), but that would probably up the chances of getting some companion gear or even beating the boss by a lot.

I've noticed a lot of copper as well even on epic. Too much copper to make it worth my while. My opinion is that they changed the loot table.
  • darkstarcrashdarkstarcrash Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,382 Arc User
They changed the loot table shortly after Mod 6 started -- at the beginning, you could get companion gear from any enchounter, not just chests and end boss fights -- but I haven't really noticed a change in the last few months.

It's streaky, like everything else "RNG": I can go two complete runs without any companion gear, then get 2 rings in one run. The AD reward varies a lot too, from 250 to 2500 rAD, possibly more.

The game only ever gives you copper for almost literally everything. Ever noticed how your epic quests will reward with, at most, a truly epic TWO SILVER? Maybe two and change. And monsters drop a few dozen copper at most. SCA's can reward you over 2000 copper on a single loot adventure, which is--a frankly astonishing, compared to everything else--20 silver. In the end it doesn't amount to much more than selling one or two pieces of ubiquitous garbage gear drops, but at least it doesn't take up any space in your refinement-stones-with-three-different-bindings-filled inventory.

You don't really need much gold, though. Even squishy, low item level, bad players should have a large surplus by the time they hit 70, and when they finally start running low SCA's are a simple way to replenish gold stock. Sell all of the dumb items it gives you (seriously, Cryptic, realize that you raised the level cap to 70 and fix all of the stuff that assumes the cap is 60) and pocket your epic piles of literally dozens of silver.

I just had a roll of 20 and the Black Dragon dungeon. But no Lightfoot and not even a purple drop. :/
