Redeeming an item/giveaway code for XBOX1

What's the process to redeem a code for XBOX1? Do you have to install the arc client and go through there? I received an item code in a giveaway posted on MMOGames and I'm not sure how to go about redeeming it since a forum search only turned up how to redeem the XB1 beta codes.
EDIT: I also tried to look through the account options on the arc website but couldn't find it there either. Maybe I'm blind?
