Companion upgrade tokens

Hey everyone, just a quick question about upgrading companions. I'm not the best with farming AD, and given how pricy it is to upgrade companions, the question of these upgrade tokens came up. Thing is, I've never seen one. Are they in game yet? If so, how does one acquire them. Thanks!

Got a 30 from a chest once, was quite bummed to find I could not send it to an alt that needed it...

I've only ever seen them in lockboxes. Specifically in the companion fortification kit.

I made a "funny" test on ptr. I copied 700 keys + lockboxes two days ago and opened all.
My "best" result:
1 flail, 1 symbol of the water artefact and no!!! companion tokens at all. Not one! ( i know where i have to check them...).
Rest from lockboxes was HAMSTER...

companion tokens are SUPER rare. I have opened hundreds of boxes and only gotten 120 total. its sad cause i have 2 chars with 30 each on, and my main has 60. Oh well. Wish you could mail them to other chars. I think they need to fix that so you can since they are super rare.

The only place I am aware of those tokens dropping is from the Companion fortification kits. I have opened about 50 kits from the 800 or so lockboxes I have purchased and never gotten any tokens. A friend has opened about the same amount as me and he has gotten the tokens once. I definitely think the chance to get the tokens needs to be increased. Especially since you need multiple drops to increase your higher level companions. It takes 30 tokens to go from white to green, 60 from green to blue, 90 for blue to purple, 120 purple to gold. So to go from white to gold a total of 300 tokens which is 10 groups of tokens since you get them 30 at a time. That's a ridiculous amount, especially since I have already dropped $800 on lockboxes and still have never seen any drop.

Sorry, I did get from the companion fortifications kit, as several reminded me. But definitely have to agree that this is ONCE that I got one after many many chests. And naturally it would go to a char with all companions already green or higher, so effectively useless unless I encounter another 30 pack.

Edited because I said 'chest' again, rather than lockbox. Durrr.

I think they want you to upgrade via AD. I think they make more money off people buying Zen to convert to AD, then they do from people buying companion fort. kits.

That's just my 2 cents.

Wrong the only way to get the tokens are from lockboxes i have unlocked over 230 lockboxes and have hit the tradebar jackpot once and got 30 tokens if you ask me for the players who pay should have better luck with the lockboxes

I have only gotten 120 tokens total. Then again, I upgrade using my tons of AD lol

LOL after all that grumbling about how they never drop, I got another 30 pack today. On ANOTHER char who couldn't use it. I really wish they would make it not bound to the char that opens it... At least if it was account bound instead, I could combine the two I have and upgrade one of my greens

I agree, a few months back I opened over 200 chests and only received 30 tokens. everything should be interchangeable between characters. So basically instead of things being bound to your character they should be bound to your account instead. Even companions

Like I said, they make them SO RARE because they want you to buy ZEN-convert to AD-then upgrade using AD. They WANT YOUR MONEY. That OR or spend a $hit ton of $$ on lockboxes to HOPE to get the coins. Either way, they are trying to milk you for every last cent.

for those that need tokens on another character... can't you just companion fortification kit to the character you hope to get the tokens on, and open the kit from that character?

-that seems the rational workaround,but given their scarcity, kinda cumbersome.
