  Social settings (O key) under preferences choose "Visible to Friends Only" see how that works for you.
  I know I no longer get spam mail and random PMs from the bots.

  That's how you prevent people from seeing it on the gateway. (if it still works)

  Inspect is for other people to inspect you.What is the point of inspect if other people cant see your gear with inspect.
