Why does nothing transfer?

kiljaedin1kiljaedin1 Member Posts: 4 Arc User
Okay so my ONLY complaint... Here Goes...
I used to play Neverwinter on the PC about a year ago, for a short time I was a paid player before my PC got Thor'd by lightning, lots of tears later I got an Xbox one. I was wondering why nothing I had transfers over to my Xbox account of Neverwinter. I had a lvl 60, 3 character slots (a lot I know), now I am stuck with 2 (Maybe you all shouldn't have made the game so fun so I wouldn't want to have more than 2) and I had 4 or 5 of the cool companions that you have to find codes for. It's not a lot I know and not very many people have this problem I'm sure, but why not make it compatible in the first place? Just wondering.

Xbox one is new, and has started as such, we are in mod 5 (rise of Tiamat) andsome stuff from mod 4. We are slowly getting more and more and sussidely full mods 1-4 by end of year.

we arent following releases and patches in order, and definitely not where pc is now. Its a start fresh version as to not be like, here is a new game for xbox, and 2years of content, plus all these people from pc have a huge lead on you.

I figured it was something like that but I am not a game developer so I don't know how hard it is to make these changes or add things like this. I'm not really concerned with getting this stuff, or even my character back, I wouldn't remember how to play my the toon anyway, I was just curious why they wouldn't want to accommodate players that might be tired of playing on PC to play on the Xbox One or give players more freedom to play how they want.

The Xbox version should be considered an entirely different game in terms of that. It doesn't have nearly as much content as the PC version does currently. Things are released and available on the PC version that are not yet available on the Xbox version. Also, Microsoft is super strict about what gets put on Xbox servers, so they were part of the deciding factor as well.

This. They are two different games at the moment. Also, a lot of people do not realize that everything must be submitted and approved by Microsoft before the content is allowed to be published. Not trying to "pass the blame" as it were but it is inevitable when putting up content on XBL.
    Signature under construction, stay tuned.

Wow, I had no idea, that is far more than I thought there was to it. Thank you all the answers. Do you think there will be a point that they streamline and are able to update both simultaneously? Or is XBL too strict for that?

Doubtful, it is possible but then updates on the pc would have to be staggered to coincide with the Xbox.

Agree, the games will be separate instances for as long as it goes.

I don't think that Microsoft would ever allow that. They won't allow the Xbox version to have the foundry either, from what I understand. :(

Interesting I was not aware of MS stance on Foundry. Now what I wonder if that will change come Window 10. (far fetched I know) but the level of integration between the two could help bring it into the console. I also look that MS is considering Mod for Minecraft One so another step to allowing custom content. Though truth be told, if Disney Infinity can allow user to create custom content, like call is Foundry Lite, Lite, Lite, so there is a working process out there.

This might happen, but I seem to think that might be a bit far fetched. As MS are quite strict.

Well, I don't think that it will happen, as they have extremely strict rules for UGC, and with the foundry it's way too hard to set up the kinds of restrictions that MS would approve.

Microsoft just recently indicated considerably more relaxed rules for UGC, as Fallout 4 is going to support mods. Once that's in place, maybe we'll get the foundry -- some time next year perhaps? Maybe it will only be select stuff copied over from the PC version after it's curated a bit, but we might get *something*.

I was just thinking of that, but it seemed that I had forgotten about it lol.

I empathize but nothing should transfer. There are too many ways to h@ck PC based games. Nevermind the foundry.

I also Project Spark was a UGC for console. Sure it was not a mega hit but the content generation was a start.
