Allowing Inspect should be optional - reward good players

azuosed89azuosed89 Member Posts: 565 Arc User
Hi All. I think the INSPECT button should be something optional for the player. You should decide if you can be inspected or not. The reason why I think it is because some players put a lot of thoughts in different builds, gear set upt, enchantments combination, and sometimes they change their builds multiple times. I don't think it is fair when people simply can inspect you and basically copy you.

I think this would reward the people that put the effort to actually find good builds/gear set up.

I very much agree with this. I dont think it will likely happen.
But I very much would want this. too many times have I had some people outright turn around and copy my whole way I build my character and down the powers I use.

I never thought of doing that. I guess I just accept I have had no idea what I was doing for gear, powers, etc when I started so I just started slapping numbers around.

Looks like someone tries to hide his poor gear so he can get carried a bit longer in the dungeons until everyone realizes you deal low dmg :]

clearly not the case. Was only fooling around, using pvp gear. Did not even bother to wear my dps gear for this and still outdps a lot of times when I run dgsqLbl2oF.jpg

But I dont even think that is the point. People who be like looking at GS rather than gearscore suck. People think there is only one meta for dps, pve. those people suck because they also copied people that suck. it wouldn't happen if inspect was optional too

I really think inspecting should be optional. I played on PC, and lost the count how many times I was copied there. It is happening on xbox one too. most people rather copy than try their own thing, i think it sucks

anyways, your response does not apply to me because I am a pvper, only run casual dgs once in a while.

Wait till you get mod6 then you'll understand why some people want to have inspect available ;)

what is happening? I think part of the fun in mmos is figure builds and how to properly play yourself.

you can copy someon1's gear. Really? Can you? I can't. I don't earn so much.

You can copy his build. Really? How? I'm sure not this way.

You can copy his gamestyle. That is how to learn from the best.

Since you're a PvP'er, I would hope you encourage more competition.

You should take pride in the fact that you not only built a set-up that other players want to copy, but you also helped someone (hopefully a PvP fan) build a character that they can have fun and compete with.

I'll be honest, when I first started, I went with the Archery tree for my HR and it was frustrating. I could barely survive PvE, and PvP was such an after thought because I would get decimated every time I tried it. If it wasn't for j0kerspsycho's post on the Ranger section of the forums, I'd probably would have given up on the class. Because of his helpfulness though, I can now compete in every domination I go into.... which makes that aspect of NW a lot more fun for me.

Be happy with the fact that you may have helped another person in our community enjoy this great game.

There is not a single build possible that you can create that someone hasn't already done whether it be PC or Xbox. Theory crafting is very heavy in this game, to the point that if you found a good build there is already either a better one or the exact same one as you out there and most have been posted online already.

I could maybe see this being okay in somewhere like the protectors enclave but outside of that this would not be a good idea.

Kinda like how the name Adolph Critler has taken off. Buddy made a wizard that name way back around release. I've seen about 5 of them in the last week hehe

Complaining over someone copying you in a video game..... seriously? It doesn't bother me if someone copies me. Take it as a compliment. This is one of the silliest things I've heard someone complain about in this game. What's next? Hide our character name, race, class and level? Don't want someone copying your name with the same race and class now. How dare they! Come on man! Lol

Okay so if I understand this correctly. You play a MMORPG. Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing game. Then what you'd like to do is "hide" yourself from other players so they can't see what makes you special? I think you're playing the wrong type of game if you're trying to be the single only player who can do what it is that you do.

My point here isn't to throw salt on what you're saying, it's just that it's plainly not what the game is about. The game is about camaraderie, companionship and playing with others. If you're not looking to share with others then it seems you're just banging your head against the wall. I personally think that sharing is what makes games like this so great.

I played plenty of MMOS where you could hide aspects of your build and gear. To be honest, neverwinter was the very first MMO I played where you can see the gear of the player. In neverwinter, gear is a huge part of the build, so yeah, as a competitive player that puts time and effort or making good ocmbinations, it bugs me people just copy without even trying. I play to win, I like competition, and I rather be using the wrong build than copying someone else's build.
i guess all those disagree with the idea love to copy and get things easy.

I made mine from scratch and hope that anyone that can get some use out of it sees it. Being the MMO that it is, this game can only get better if people are using builds that suit their play style even if it was taken from someone else. The more people who know how to properly build their character the better if you ask me. And besides, unlike most games where there are tons of different builds that lead to great outcomes, this game doesn't have that. Each class has only a small handful of builds that max out the characters potential and you will not find a single one of those that hasn't already been posted time and time again by multiple sources.

Stats work the same for everyone of the same class no matter what you do excluding a couple feats here and there so that's out of the question. The gear in the game is accessible to everyone and seeing as the stats they provide follow the rule I just stated, that's out of the question. So aside from the feats you've chosen and a few powers there isn't a single thing about your build that is special in any way especially taking into account that there are only 3 trees available per class and only so many points that can be used in those trees.

Knowing all this and still expecting any build of any kind to be special or some kind of secret is just wishful thinking. Especially when the feats laid out to you are clearly aimed to a certain play style for each option.

On the off chance that you did happen to find a build that suits your play style and also isn't widely known already, all you are doing is hurting the community if someone who also happens to like your play style comes a long and is having a hard time finding that sweet spot isn't able to see what you're running with. There is no reward for finding a good build and if you have found a build like I just mentioned you are only being selfish for keeping it to yourself if someone finds they would use it too. Also you are just being self centered if you think your build is soooo good that no other person could have possibly figured it out especially with what limited options there are.

you are right, it is not a game that hard to figure out the builds. so why need inspect anyway. I am not comfortable being inspected. And trust me, with new content on mod 6 coming, one more slot for artefacts, artefact sets variety, etc. I think it will give rise to more build variety, so I think we need have the option to conceal our inspect.

Interesting. What are these "Plenty" of MMO's that you've played where you hid things. I've played Everquest, Utlima Online, World of Warcraft, TERA, and now Neverwinter and I've never seen an option to hide your build. In fact, most "MASSIVE" games have an interface that can be seen from the web as well. Furthermore, you talk about the gear being a huge component of your build. You're implying that by just utilizing the same skill set as you I'm not taking your build then right? If I have different gear does that mean that I'm using your build? If I use 5 of the 6 skills you have and use a different one did I copy your build? The line of "COPYING" gets really blurry when you're talking about what is and isn't being utilized.

Great. It bothers you. Get over it. You're crying about someone utilizing your skills in a video game, that no two people will play identically in.

I think this passive aggressive shot in closing was really cute. What someone's reason is for utilizing the build that you've supposedly spent hours and hours building is, is really up to them. I'd like to point out that you're not the first person to build your build. You're just assuming you are because you haven't seen it posted anywhere. Theory crafting for MMO's is huge and I can assure you that the developers have already had your build built, and you're copying their build

I couldn't care less for this comment. Welcome to the player FEEDBACK forum. if you don't like the feedback, it is not my concern. Keep copying other people's builds.

"I point out that you're not the first person to build your build. You're just assuming you are because you haven't seen it posted anywhere."

clearly you don't know me from PC. I was the first GWF on PC to bring GWF on PvP scenario on mod 1 through mod 3. and I set up all the meta for GWF until I quit. Your comment without any knowledge of that is irrelevant. I never posted help with builds and I will never do. to me, people who make guides are not wanting to help anyone, they are seeking fame through forums. I rather make my name playing though.

again, this post is my feedback of what I think it should be fair. If the devs rather reward lazy players, so be it. I don't care the outcome in the end doesn't change. same build, same gear, skills prevails. So I am not concerned of losing for people using my build. but it is nice to know your build is still safe when you put time and effort to build them, rather than lazy people just get it ready to use without knowing what half of the feats do.

I don't copy other peoples builds, but I do like to look and see what other people are doing. It makes sense. As for you're saying you couldn't care less. You clearly care. You're still responding. In fact, you're getting more and more confrontational with each post, telling me you actually do care.

If you don't like someone copying your build then hide in a corner where no one can see you. Then if they can't find you they can't copy your build. Problem solved.
