grumble grumble....I am quite enjoying my iv conq in pvp but am finding the most difficult opponent of all classes in the same gear range is a tactician gf, esp if they are sm.
I always "gg" when people beat me 1v1 in a match and ask what their build and gear set up is. The toughest ones for me seem to be that path. I checked the tactician path feats and don't see anything incredibly special. Good stuff but not more special than any other tree.
Is steel defense + martial mastery really THAT GOOD? I don't expect anyone to say it publically but I really am curious as to how often you have full AP due to martial mastery if you are getting hit a lot. If it is FAST and you can pull off Crescendo + the steel defense proc almost as often as an average encounter cd.......

tacticians can have acess to the first two prot feats. So they are just as tanky ,except the 10% less guard consume that prots have.Anyway this disadvantage can be balanced by equiping an elven enchant.
So as protection goes they arew covered.
As damage now:
I will speak about IV tacts.cause a have a 15k gs tact IV alt.
Trample the fallen increase by +15% the damage to control powers. These generally for GF are :GW,knee Breaker ,Terrifying Impact,FLS and Flourish.
Crushing pin feat also increase by +10% the damage for 3 secs after a control power.
But concerning tacts there is a catch: Both Anvil and lunging are considered control powers.
You can take the tact feat that makes Anvil a one sec stun. Also the feat where Lunging takes "interrupt " power (stun?)
So...Tact Iv has an array of controls powers..that if are executed in succesion (thete goes the IV part:you need 101% the threateneing rush in order to work, you have to be withing 3 secs in range to hit again) they take +15% +10% ,+15% +10%.
So very near to a conq damage ,except the more crit chance (+10% ) the Conq has.But that chance is not quaranteed .You need 5 stacks.Sometimes it is easy to get, sometimes not.
Plus Tact has superb control. As said lunging provides an interrupt(according to me is not very good) but Anvil provides a one sec stun.
So you can chain one contro, rotation: Bull,FLS,Anvil. Lunging,FLS,Anvil.Anvil,Bull,Lunging. And goes on..plus you will have dailies far more often. High con plus BI cloak plus constitution belt.
You can make also an SM Tact.B ut you need better timing to land your control rotaion in order to get thr control damage bonuses.
You can make a Bull,Lunging ,Anvil rotation.etc.
These. As said with a spesific gameplay and rotation you can nearly reach Conq damage (except critical) plus more control.
I am waiting for someone to explain to me maybe how I did it wrong on iv conq, build or play style or whatever. I play defense on conq which means attack due to 50% dr from ls and br. 50% dr + 33% from tenacity +++ so at or very near 100% dr and that is after the 80% block dr. Not much damage gets through unless it is several players debuffing and hitting you all at once. Then the near instant combo of br>ls>anvil for the kill...those three are quite often 20k+ for br, 20k+ for ls and 30-70k for anvil alone. That should be a winning combo of defense and offense against almost anything.
Unless it is something that can have the exact same set as above + total damage and cc immunity for several seconds on top of everything else.

Thanks, that is a lot of information to absorb! I don't plan on respeccing to tactician but if GF remains as it is now, I will definitely be rolling one in the near future. I'm just happy that GF is not only viable as a class but has more than one viable tree.
