Trimmed forced respec?

poisoncloudpoisoncloud Member Posts: 489 Arc User
I hope the respec we're getting with mod 6 on live will be more complete than what is on preview? At least, with the incoming changes (+1 extra powers level and additional feats on trees, major rework to some stats) powers, boons and non-heroic feats should get reset in full, and not only the feats and the half-way too...

I must also agree. The forced "respec" we have now is just a feat respec, and then only some of them. We need a complete full respec; stats, abilities, feats, and boons to accommodate the plethora of changes to the fundamentals of how our characters will now work. This partial feat respec will just not do. Please give us a full respec for every class when Module 6 goes live. Thanks!

Don't want to be HAMSTER but i doubt much the fact that we'll get full respec. Because there were lotsa free recp tokens from new year and there should be a way to get them from players.

And this is it. Want full respec, use token

sokolnichiy is probably right but I agree with poisoncloud and Zeb - if you're introducing so many fundamental changes in Mod 6, we should get a full respec, not just a redo on the feats. We will need to redo our entire character to maximize our stats. Essentially, this is not just a Mod but an uber Mod.

They stopped giving full respecs quite some time ago. Even the "forced" respecs only roll back as much as necessary.

    This ship has sailed.

Previous Mods saw major changes to lots of classes with new Paragon Paths added but not since Mod 2 have we received free training tokens. I have serious doubts that we will ever again, no matter how many changes are made to classes. Yes there are even bigger changes coming in Mod 6 but I foresee them doing forced respecs once again as it seems to be the way of the future...

I fear that you're right on this. I do feel though that given the sheer extent and impact that the changes on preview will have, that a full respec is in order.

I feel like this is one of those situations where they should avoid the ill-will and give everyone a complete forced respec on their toons.

Let's kick off Module 6 with some happy customers.

I beleive that full retrain of each character is going to be so necesary that we will never get it so we are forced to pay for it.

I've always known they only give free (partial) respecs when something in the game breaks without it (such as the feat changes = feats only respec).

However, I agree with OP: this isn't just game-breaking, it's character-breaking in the long run up to the new level cap. I'm fortunate that I got a truckload of respec tokens during winter event. Though I do want to throw-in my support and agreement in this particular case.

Since Cryptic's goal is to make money it's not gonna happen. Why would they give us something for free when they can charge money for it?

This is why the Respec tokens were given out frequently during the Winter fest. I managed to get 10 and will probably use them all if no full respec is given.

It use to be you got a token, this forced stuff started later on and i have no idea why. wiping out the old settings becuse your forced to is horrid. Players need some time to read up on whats changed to make the most of it. Its not the players fault and token was the right way.

Sadly if they didn't force reset you then you'd have skills that didn't exist anymore, could physically break the game/character
I guess they could randomly assigned to the new replacment skill and give you a partial respec token?

Yeh, Given the changes a full paragon respec seems to be minimum (not this 1/2 paragon on preview), plus with LS/Regen changes boons are high on the list. [Heck do we even know how the LS boon reworks with the changes .. last time I tested the boons were locked]

I have a feeling they will just do feat respec. With the bonus level up power points, it seemed like that was one of their excuses to not give out a whole retraining token respec.

Would love to see full character respec and not just the feats. This is a major module and shakes things up quite a bit.

    I'm with this guy ! ^^

On preview we already have a free respec. Usually (b4 this mod) you have to buy the respec from zen market (for 0 coins obviously). I believe they've already coded in the "whole" respec for everyone.

I wouldnt mind seeing a goody bag with a race re-roll like I said abv ... I've been wanting to change more of my toons to DB :)

The early builds of forced respecs on preview have always been glitchy like this, only refunding points up to the point where changes were introduced. Not such a big deal in the past since a full respec is a button away, but a problem with boons being inaccessible.

A live forced feat respec has been total (heroic and paragon, including the path-specific paragon feats). Likewise with DCs getting a forced respec of feats and powers.

Don't expect them to go live with the forced respec looking like it does on preview. While I'm hoping it will be a forced full respec across the board including stats and boons, I doubt it will be anything less than full feats and powers, due to the powers having added ranks, introducing a reason for people to seriously reconsider where they've placed points.

Edit: If they added a forced race reroll (which I know you're kidding about), I would actually quit at that point because it would also entail a forced appearance change, which is completely unacceptable.

with all the new boons, powers, and feats the partial respec they gave us on preview server wont do it.
there are to manny thing changed like the boon that were so lack luster before now acualy look good .
then stat "curve" acualy a streight line that now we need to do some things differantly some of the boons we didnt need before now we do
for all these reasons and more i really think we need a full respec when mod 6 goes live

Free respecs are only given based on breakage, not on want or desire. Only those areas that can break will receive a respec. Other areas that do not break, but may change do not get a free respec because the only reason to respec those areas is based on player desire, not need; they are optional in a player-preference aspect.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, only stating what the apparent policy is.

Realistically the policy is that they used to give free respecs and now they don't.

TPTB stated all toons receive FULL respecs once mod6 hits.

In general though, yeah. They want peeps to buy zen. Lately NW respecs specialize in doing the bare minimum and not one iota more. Need to alter your boons to synergize with new feats? Buy zen. TPTB milked players for all they were worth whenever they could. My Grandfather called that, "Nickle and Diming." It's a blatant cash grab and insulting.

Mod6 returns to ye olde days where major changes= full respecs. I approve. I know cryptic sought/hired a new marketing director. Hopefully this signals a change in monetization philosophies.

I am wondering If we will get free respec when the new mod comes out as I currently have one free respec and wanted to change my build because I accidentally followed a guide that was outdated.

Crush did say on the paladin live stream that because they are putting new feats in the middle of the tree they would have to give a respec. But might just be for the feats

    Be careful on this.

Right now you do not get a free respec when you log on. What happens is you get refunded for the Rank 4, 5, and Capstone feats in your chosen tree.

    That's it.

So if you want to pick an entirely new tree, pick different spells/encounters, change stat allocations, change boons, etc. then you will need to buy a respec token or pay AD to do a feat respec. You are not getting a blank slate to do your character over. At least that's not how it works now. Maybe they have plans to give everyone a free respec token, but so far that's not what is on Preview.
