But yeah, I use my XP Boosters on my pre-60 alts, so they level faster as I've been through it all many times before, all the way back to Alpha. XP Boosters are great for alt-o'holics like myself.
I have 6 level 60's and five well on their way. I have saved about 29 XP boosts for my Warlock when they become live. (I opened a ton of LB in hopes of getting the Tenser's disk with no luck lol)
*correction* I just realised the XP boosters are for the companion lol, but I have the intellect Devourer for my SW.

Yeah... my personal view on the matter is this - get *at least* one character to 60 via the normal, (read: non-boosted), leveling process first, then the ability to use the boosts becomes unlocked. You could view the use of a booster sort of like a new game plus in other games. Heck, I'd go one step further and offer a special "1st 60 Pack" that you get with your first character to reach 60 - which includes one of the boosters you get w/ the various promo codes they give out in abundance, to encourage you to make another character.

or you can just use one from 1 to 60 so that you have to play at least the high lvl zones
Exactly. The PuG quality is bad enough as it is. People buying their way into lvl60 prayer bots with free profession slots can only make it worse. It will definitely not improve anything except for altoholics. And I think even they should learn how to play their characters properly.
The possibility of a rapid increase in bad players is very real. 2 450k boosters allow players to pick a build from the forums, get to 60 10 minutes later, and having absolutely no clue what to do with the character they just created. No gold, no AD, no playing experience. Players aren't even burdened by any knowledge of how the game works and what it has to offer. Honestly, I can see no reason why this would be a good thing for a fresh player. Of course, for PvPers this is the new p2skip, but without any game knowledge to guide them, I don't see how it would be an improvement.
This isn't how boosters work. You still have to quest and level but for the length of the booster that xp comes faster. Once you hit the booster xp limit, you gain xp the same slow speed again. It just doubles your xp while booster is active.
people will not be able to use the booster and get instant levels.

. . . XP Boosters are not XP Gifts. They increase the amount of XP you gain from questing and killing mobs. They do not grant out-right "free" XP. "Not free" as in not gained without effort.

My concern is this - a new player comes in, picks up one of these, quickly over-levels the content that they initially get, then either flails around trying to find appropriately leveled content, (which they'd then be under-geared for), or steamrolls the content that they get if the proceed normally - which again will result in a poor player experience.
If they *had to* play through at least once, they'd have that experience w/ the zone progressions, general enemy types, and so on.

They won't die that easily if they play a CW, TR or HR. I haven't tried with other classes, but with those 3 classes you can already afford to skip a map whenever it suits you once you're done in the graveyard. The only exception is maybe the Pirate map (the name escapes me atm). Once you're past that, it's a breeze even with gear 10 lvls under character level. So I share your concern.
I found Pirate's Skyhold and Icespire Peak to be the toughest leveling-up zones - particularly Captain Kayliss and the Rimehound.

I found Pirate's Skyhold and Icespire Peak to be the toughest leveling-up zones - particularly Captain Kayliss and the Rimehound.
I never had any issues with those zones. The only zone I often died in was Mount Hotenow when I was at level. Since, I recognized that it wasn't my playstyle getting me killed but was my lack of understanding of how gear works and what stats I should be focusing on for that particular class. With that in mind and after getting 3 characters through there (at level), I now make sure I am always properly geared and have since found no issue leveling through any of the leveling quest zones. I think my favorites are Rothe Valley and Whispering Caverns, as I really love drow and their deep and fanatical lore.
Lol, if you think pugging Epics is bad now, imagine someone that hit 60 with 2 clicks and has no idea how to play their class. That'll be good times.
As we've pointed out, this is impossible. The boosters are not direct XP, they are a % boost to the XP you gain. Still, it is already possible to never play any leveling content past level 10. Once you unlock professions, you can then level to 11 by working leadership and then level to 60 through only prayers and leadership. I know for I have 4 level 60's that went from 10 to 60 without doing any content beyond Blacklake and I have 10+ more characters anywhere from the teens to the 50's that are leveling this way too, as I focus on my current level 60's. So, really, this argument is moot.
Curious is they would stack with enchants that increasre XP gain?
The current boosters and buff items we have now on Live do stack with other items but boosters themselves do not stack together in terms of % boost. They only stack the amount of XP you can gain at that upped % rate.
Not literal examples:
So, say you eat a 5000 XP booster of 10% and then eat another that only gives 2500 XP at 10% rate. You won't be gaining 7500 XP at 20% rate, you'll be gaining 7500 XP at 10% rate.
I don't know about the new ones in testing though.

Also note that, AFAIK, enchants that can be slotted give MORE XP, not bonus XP. For instance, let's say you slotted an enchant that gives you 5% extra XP. Now let's say you use a booster that gives 5000 XP at a 25% increased rate. I believe it would work like this:
Let's say you earn 100 XP
Now the 5% enchant would make that 105 XP
Now you multiply that 105 XP by 125%, (or 105 * 1.25 = 131.25)
This is an educated guess on my part. The actual order that these effects take place may be different, by Cryptic's formula.
EDIT: I'm dumb, and the order wouldn't really matter. 125 x 1.05 = 105 x 1.25

The only other thing that may throw a wrench into these calculations is if the bonus XP is calculated separately for each thing that provides a bonus. For instance, let's say you had a 5% extra XP enchant and the 25% XP booster.
Take the same 100 XP
Now the 5% enchant provides 5 extra XP, and let's put that aside.
Now the 25% XP booster uses the base XP earned as well, and you get 25 extra XP.
If these values are not stacked, and just calculated individually, you'd only earn 100 + 5 + 25 = 130 XP.
That's why I'm saying we'd need to know which formula is being used.

Either way it's a good thing to have. With 7 level 60s, I've had enough of questing to level, I just want to be level 60 on my warlock and do the better content. Though even the better content is now stale now that we don't have new content worth doing. Of course I expect it to be a rip off anyway.
Don't worry they will have new content in mod 4. PVP while fighting a dragon. PVP while brushing your teeth, pvp mario brothers. /yawn.

I agree, this is the reason I left SWTOR. The double XP on top of the XP pots put PUGS in a bad way. There was people putting gear on at capped level that did not even get a benefit from it, because they leveled so fast and didn't learn anything from beginning to end game, other than leveling up and "coat tailing" on players that actually do take the time to learn the game instead of racing towards fat loots.
I think they should make it where people without level 60s shouldn't even be able to buy the booster pacts, to be honest.
I may not be considered by most the BEST PVP Warlock on the server but, I am the most HATED amongst them.
So what we feared has come true. People really only have to play through half the content to reach lvl 60. Maybe the price will stop the average newbie from using it, but that doesn't change the mechanic.
Get ready for scrub questions like "where can I get my 3rd bag? I'm already lvl60 and I've been playing for 5 hours already." and a steep decline in PuG quality.

I am glad that they have apparently ninja fixed the t2s from non-epic dungeons exploit, at least, which tended to promote a special kind of weaksauce.

I am with Zeb, my first toon I leveled normal to 60. My 2nd and 3rd I mostly pvped till 60 (then I remembered just how much I despise pvp). Toons 4 through 11 I just did professions, invokes, special events, and The Graveyard for the bag till 60. Number 12 I am looking forward to (My Warlock), I have the XP books saved up from my other toons, and I am buying a boost, will still do Graveyard, but this will be my smoothest sail to 60 yet, can't wait!

That made me giggle
