Interact with object cursor doesn't match object position

When trying to interact with a portal, mailbox or black ice node (for example), it is necessary to scan back and forth across the object, change position and try again.
Repeat until... finally get the 'Press F to ...' msg appears
Steps to reproduce:
1. Stand within range of the object
2. Center cursor in middle of object's 'sparkly' area
Expected result:
3.a Cursor msg displays "Press F to ..."
Actual result:
3.x Join crowd of others moving around object trying to obtain some result
Repeat until... finally get the 'Press F to ...' msg appears
