so its worth it to upgrade a pet to uncommon green quality for 300k astral diamonds rather than buy a new one from AH/Zen market ?
Not really, unless you are doing it to improve the bonus you get for having them in an active slot (not necessarily summoned). That is what Dodgo is talking about with his mercenary.
If you want a tanking pet you can get fairly inexpensively on the AH, look for a Frost Mimic. They're quite good. but there's nothing inherently wrong with the Man-at-Arms. You need to equip him with good defense and lifesteal or regen, same with any other battle pet you want to keep alive.
What are the best companions for the CW? At present I use a basic starter defender for solo play so it can tanks mobs.
Whats the best for group dungeons, the rare (blue) Allure pet for the augment?
Also whats the best tanking pet because I can't find any better ones than the starter version in the AH
yes sorry ioun stone of allure is without doubt best pet. you will be asked to unsummon non augment pets in many dungeons. and non augment pets die real quick in t2 boss fights
Could you explain why Power is boss and Critical Strike or Armor Penetration aren't?
And isn't epic quality Mercenary grants only +165 Power?
I doubt he's suggesting that Power is the most important stat. It's likely that he already has as much Critical Strike and Armor Penetration as he needs since Power is usually what you increase once you are set with any other stats you wanted to focus on. For glass cannon CWs, Power is usually prioritized fairly high up there after CS and ArP are at acceptable levels. Or else we might be talking about a fairly balanced build that just uses companion bonuses to beef up Power for PvE.

I think companions are misunderstood. You can have 5 active and they pass on 'active' bonus points to you, very different from the direct stats you get for a summoned augment. At higher levels, upgrading a companion from green to blue or blue to purple will give you much more stats than spending to upgrade from R8s to R9s. It's a matter of AD to stat/GS increase....and it's much more cost effective at R8+. Having 5 blue/purple companions can give 1000+ GS.

i use the allure ston, wild hunt rider 2% chance to increase damage by 10% for 5 seconds (always procs on pve) , dancing blade +3% crit severity, blink dog +2% combat advantage damage ( i have 4 points on nightmare wizandry), hawk +55crt +55pen, cantakerous mage +15% control bonus
Hi guys,
I want to get an companion for CW witch have dmg as pasive bonus.
I'm thinking between Aranea and Tomb Spider or other one but i dont know whitch it's the best for CW.
What do u guys use or whitch do u think it's the best for CW?
I have Allure Ioun, Wolf, Cant. Mage(epic) and Wisp and i want one to boost the dmg.
Ty.

If you can afford to upgrade and use encounters that do damage (lol sry for that I couldn't help myself) than wild hunt rider is your go to damage companion. Other good choices would be galeb and fire archon.
Ty for answer niadan. - yes, i can afford it (to make it epic) and do CW have other Encouners than the Dmg ones?
Do u think that 5% (on epic) chance to increase dmg by 10% for 5 sec on Enconter use its better than 3% lightning srike from Aranea? I'm asking because I don't know anyone who use Aranea or Wild Hunter.
CW it's my new toon (9 days) but I'm full rank 10 and rank 9 stones on Ioun Stone - I'll also have today the Dragon Fallen weapon set.
One more question - soft cap for recovery it's around 3500 or its good to have around 4000 or more?
If you were going for any pet options, I would use some combination of the following:
Ioun Stone of Radiance/Might/Allure (in that order since you can use a blue belt to stack power)
Sellsword (Epic +300 Power)
Skeleton (Epic +165 Life Steal +165 Power)
Hawk (Epic +165 Crit +165 Arm Pen)
Dancing Blade (Epic +5% Crit Severity)
Wild Hunt Rider (On encounter use 5% chance to increase damage by 10% for 5 seconds)
Fire Archon (Epic 5% damage on targets below 30% health)
Blink Dog (5% increase to combat Damage - Nightmare Wizardry)
I swapped the Wild Hunt Rider out but it is a really good option.
There is about a 1.6% difference in recharge/ap gain going from 3.5k recovery to 4k recovery, so depends what you have to give up to get it. https://www.desmos.com/calculator/3dqpvhuavj
You asked which single damage companion we think is best, however like angry above, you may want to think about all your slots since you aare obviously able to gear fast. I personally have through a combination of enchants, gear, artifacts and companions:
9k power
2.3k arp
1.8k crit
3.5k rec
1k regen
1k def
1k ls
I have tried every combination of companions and believe you get the best bang for your buck through power stacking and wild hunt on aoe and then switch to more arp or crit for single target.
After I get over my power addiction (I'm in therapy) I will probably shuffle back to a little more hp/ls...lol
@Angrymanagement - the Allure its better than the Radiance - i have them bouth at lvl 30 on my TR
I have all 3 stones at level 30 myself, & I would disagree. Can't speak for a TR, but Life Steal is amazing for CW, and Regen is a nice backup. At the expense of 38 power, you get a much better active bonus & more overall stats. You can stack more Power on the stone of Radiance/Might than you can with Allure due to the 3 offensive runes vs 2 offense 1 defense.
With 1 Rank 10 & the rest Rank 9s I get 2,208 power, 167 Crit, 418 Arm Pen, 300 Recovery, 167 Regen, 473 Life Steal, 165 Deflect, & 300 Hit Points from my Stone of Radiance. (That would be 2,408 power with all rank 10s.)
Level 30 stats are as follows (without Runes/Equipment):
Ioun Stone of Radiance:
300 Hit Points
167 Power
167 Critical
167 Recovery
167 Regeneration
Passive: 165 Life Steal / 165 Deflect
3 Offensive Rune Slots
Ioun Stone of Allure:
300 Hit Poinsts
204 Power
204 Critical
204 Recovery
Passive: 10% chance to slow target
2 Offensive Rune Slots 1 Defensive Rune Slot
Ioun Stone of Might:
300 Hit Points
167 Power
167 Armor Pen
167 Recovery
167 Deflect
Passive: 5% Stamina Regen
3 Offensive Rune Slots
^^Exactly, since recovery comes so easily to CWs, I was using a Life Steal icon on the Allure. Then I picked up the Might for the extra Power & a better passive ability. Extra dodges for drako - & red matches my outfit ....and then they had the Radiant & I drooled at the extra Life Steal on it.
Also didn't help that the e-mail they sent out for the Stone of Radiance was trashed by most of the Antivirus spam filters out there. I wouldn't have ever seen the e-mail if someone hadn't told me about it. /angryface
Does anyone know whether the 'chance to proc' type passives such as the wild hunt rider's work on encounter use, or damage tick? If the latter, then they're pretty attractive when used with any kind of DoT like Conduit of Ice. I assume it's not per hit
Tele Savalas, Dwarf Thaumaturge CW
Putting the Buff into Debuff since 2013 \o/ (Does that even make sense)?

Damage tick. Wild hunt rider will never leave my active slot on AOE because it always procs right before a shard or ss with my usual rotation of leading with coi and or steal time. My other pets are all power. I also have the usual suspects of dancing blade, galeb, blink...etc. but nothing compares to WHR for damage on AOE.
I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on my companion set-up. I am not positive that I want to keep it like this, but it seems to be working well so far:
Phorea for the rez bonus
Ioun Stone for obvious reasons, this is my normally summoned companion.
Cave Bear (purple) for 1200 HP
Druid (purple) for 660 HP and 165 recovery
Fire Archon for the +damage at 30% mob HP and below.
I am considering changing the Ioun Stone of Allure for a Radiance, but I need to do some more number crunching to see if the gear differences on the Radiance is better for me or if I should stick with Allure. Any thoughts on this are welcome.
It all depends really. If your going for survivability that might be a good setup.
I used to run 2200defense/24k+Health/9% regen on my wizard, but have since just pretty much given up on defense/hp/regen for damage/life steal & just rely on dodging/LS with around 1500 defense 23k health & +/-10% life steal. Only time this becomes an issue is if you are staying close to Valindra in VT & she grabs you (not the grab that everyone DPSes down) - & I carry a couple purple belts in case I need them for this.
Fire Archon is a nice DPS enhancing pet that you don't have to worry about upgrading, so always a good option.
Phorea looks good, but you'll never get to use it unless you die, and your other pets appear to be setup to prevent that from happening.
Comes down to personal opinion, but I would swap out the HP/phoera for a dps stat or proc type pet.
Edit: Side Note: when you get your VT weapons youll have a good start on your life steal which can be augmented nicely with companions/artifacts/rings.
Its the same good old problem that DCs will have easy access to the best icon in the game (from black ice gear) while the others not. (Its bound)
Like it was a very long extra job to farm MC/VT icon in the past for non-DCs.
It will be better to put a ring with somewhat lesser stats than an icon instead putting an outdate icon which you can buy/farm.

i also run a badger because im extra squishy with latency
archons are cheap
