Indeed it wasn't. In fact, as the days go on, I'm not seeing a "balance" with the new Elo system. It still feels the same unbalance that existed prior to the Elo system except that there are not that many leavers any more. I was hoping to see and feel the games get progressively better, but instead I still get the same randomness of really bad matches (my team get's owned), really good matches (my team dominates), and the occasional balanced matches.

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to start this thread - to keep track of the progress of the Elo system through 1 player's "real world" experience so that the Dev's can see at least one set of "real world" results of the Elo system over time.

I notice you consider gear score the "balance."
It is not. Really it is not.
For example you said "poor tactics made the match closer than it seemed."
That is balance. It doesn't matter one bit if they have really good gear if they can't put it to good use.
Gear will not be the same. In fact you should probably just stop keeping track. The most important number is honestly how close the matches are and at what point they stopped being close.
If the match was neck and neck but suddenly somebody leaves that should be the most crucial consideration. Same goes if it seems like the enemy team stopped trying. Balance is the chance to win. Gear contributes to that but it doesn't matter how obscenely high their gear score is if the match can still be won by superior tactics and teamwork.
the forums aren't supposed to be used as a blog or a way to keep your match data. soon, you will get that option in-game in module 3. however continually posting in a thread with no active discussion is both considered spamming and bumping, both of which are not allowed. in addition to that, you're posting data that cannot be proven, data that comes from competitive pvp matches and pvp drama needs to be kept in-game.
a better usage of what you're doing here might be to collect your data personally over time and later come back with constructive feedback based on your data, but trying to determine statistical facts about the internal workings of programming or how/if elo is working... what i understand about elo in neverwinter pvp is what the devs tell us and i know that they have the ability to scale it up or down. i have no way of proving that elo is or isn't working, but from my own experience, i can say that my pvp matches do feel more balanced than before. and there will always be a winner and a loser because it's pvp.

Indeed it wasn't. In fact, as the days go on, I'm not seeing a "balance" with the new Elo system. It still feels the same unbalance that existed prior to the Elo system except that there are not that many leavers any more. I was hoping to see and feel the games get progressively better, but instead I still get the same randomness of really bad matches (my team get's owned), really good matches (my team dominates), and the occasional balanced matches.

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to start this thread - to keep track of the progress of the Elo system through 1 player's "real world" experience so that the Dev's can see at least one set of "real world" results of the Elo system over time.
It is not. Really it is not.
For example you said "poor tactics made the match closer than it seemed."
That is balance. It doesn't matter one bit if they have really good gear if they can't put it to good use.
Gear will not be the same. In fact you should probably just stop keeping track. The most important number is honestly how close the matches are and at what point they stopped being close.
If the match was neck and neck but suddenly somebody leaves that should be the most crucial consideration. Same goes if it seems like the enemy team stopped trying. Balance is the chance to win. Gear contributes to that but it doesn't matter how obscenely high their gear score is if the match can still be won by superior tactics and teamwork.
a better usage of what you're doing here might be to collect your data personally over time and later come back with constructive feedback based on your data, but trying to determine statistical facts about the internal workings of programming or how/if elo is working... what i understand about elo in neverwinter pvp is what the devs tell us and i know that they have the ability to scale it up or down. i have no way of proving that elo is or isn't working, but from my own experience, i can say that my pvp matches do feel more balanced than before. and there will always be a winner and a loser because it's pvp.
