Been trying to find the answer to this , since the legend goes that you can have all the stones and all will buff you , meaning they don't have to be summoned , meaning that they would work in PVP.
But maybe that's just people talking about the active bonus.
The subject is not explained in game , which is actually where the information should be.
So, to rephrase the OP's question.
Do the Ioun bonuses work even when the companions are not summoned? Specifically in PVP ?
Can one have 5 of those, would all buff the owner at the same time ?
The Stones are not usable in PvP.
In fact, I do not believe that you receive any of the Active Companion Bonuses either.
And you do not receive the full Stone benefit from it if it is not your Summoned Companion. You only receive the standard Active Companion Bonus (a chance to Slow, if my memory serves me).

Companions and their passive bonuses do NOT work in PvP.
An unsummoned Ioun stone does not offer any of its regular bonuses. So you can have as many as you want, it simply won't have any effect in PvP.
The right to command is earned through duty, the privilege of rank is service.

No bonuses from any equipped companions work in pvp ?
So neither the slow on encounter use, or the 5% interrupt etc ?
Are you saying one is locked out of using all other companions of the same type, if they have one equipped ?

As far as I am able to determine you do NOT receive the Active Bonus from any of your Companions in PvP.

companions and active bonuses do not carry over into pvp.
Yes, I just discovered the same thing. Unfortunate. It would be good if the developers added something to the glory vendor to the effect that you could buy type-specific tokens allowing your companions' active bonuses to carry over into PvP (not the summoned bonuses otherwise anyone with an ioun stone would become a monster).
Be an incentive for PvP'ers to buy expensive companions for Zen/dollars too.
Money-spinner.
Win-win.

No idea what my toon is now.

Would just be a further divide between the haves and have nots. Bad idea imho.

How about no? That will break PvP even more than it currently is in live.

I know of at least 4 different ones though.

Hence the issues with allowing it .
