I never quit. Despite enjoying pvp for what it is, my main 2 reasons for joining pvp (always pugs), is
1) PvP event extra honor
2) AD award
It's very very rare that even with someone leaving that I won't aquire enough points to get the reward, even then I would still try.
I can't stand people that leave pvp, especially for alot of the reasons mentioned in this thread, but I can accept we all have our own outlook and preferences. Biggest one that annoys me is leaving because the opposition are a pre-made. These make for the best matches! You're basically saying you're leaving because you can't accept losing. Pathetic, suck it up and try.
Many of the best matches I've had have been in a pug versus pre-made or in a pug where we're 1 or 2 members down. 9/10 times when our team loses 1 or 2, or 3, I've had a very good reception from our opposition, usually we'll just resort to 1 on 1, which can be a nice break from the norm and allows for specific testing of your own build versus another class.
I had a really nice bunch of opponents yesterday that when we went down to 2 (they were pre-made), they allowed us to gain bases to bring our points within award range (although I was already there) but the other guy in my party really appeciated it.
I would love to see a system brought in to punish leavers but the biggest issue is, I don't beleive there is an accurate way to discern between a genuine reason for leaving versus a "pre-made? bllocks to this, I'm off"
Gear factors, obviously but it's not the be all and end all. Skill is still a major factor, I think alot of people are overlooking what "skill" involves, especially in team situations, which is pvp and gvg, which is, this game.
So I wouldn't say that gear is greater than skill, it still depends on whose hands it's in.

Nothing like listening to folks thinking 2 shots is all skill.
