I got a question about Classes.

Hello everyone, firstly I would like to apoligize if this thread is in the wrong section of the forums.

Hello, my question is that I play DC and I would like to be a DPS'er, I know that DC can pack a punch but still standing on the sideline casting some spells isn't really too entertaining. I was considering TR and GF as one of my potentional DPS class as I kinda think that CW will be repetitive.

Please post your idea's :-)

P.S
My heart kinda goes to TR as they look cool, but I don't know anything about the recent nerfes (?)

TRs are still the strongest DPS class in game. A decked out TR (Greater/Perfect Vorpal and Tenebrous) can 1 shot most classes with an Encounter power.

Think about PVPing and taking out (most) other classes once every 10 seconds?

    Is there still a question?

GF (did you mean Guardian Fighter or Great Weapon Fighter?) aren't a DPS but actually a 'tank' class. That having been said in Conqueror feat line they can be a fair bit of damage and are good in PvP and decent in PvE.

TRs are the best single damage class, usually the best overall DPS class, and at least one is asked for in almost every Dungeon. In addition they are pretty good in PvP too although a bit of a glass canon.

Of the two TRs fit in more with the current PvE endgame, and the proposed nerfs seem to have been toned down to the extent that this won't affect the situation noticeably.

The TR nerfs have been toned down to a point where you will not notice anything if you haven't played TR before (heck I have one at level 30 and I'm not sure I'll notice all that much), so don't let that keep you from choosing the class you want.

My DC has a weird build that isn't really DPS but isn't really healing either so I can't help much with that, but we do have a section on the DC class in the Class Forums if you'd like to poke around in there for ideas on how to build your DC to make it fit your style better.

IMO, the GWF has the best balance of damage and survivability. TRs can do a lot of damage, but they are a little on the fragile side, and require more skill to play, (which might explain why I find them so fragile).

CWs can actually do a lot of damage, but usually this requires speccing for crits, I also find that setting mobs up and positioning make a lot of difference when playing my CW. A spell mastery entangling force to group up enemies, then a sudden storm to hit em all, works quite well. Two hits from a ray of enfeeblement followed by a conduit of ice can wear down a single target pretty quickly.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy playing my DC, and soloed much of his to 60, but I wouldn't think of speccing him to deal damage instead of healing & support, (at least not in a team environment).

The problem with GWF is that they too require a lot of skill to play, but many people don't seem to care. As long as they get through the fight, it's good enough for them. That might sound fine, but once they get to a harder fight, they fail miserably, as they don't know how to focus on surviving rather than doing damage. That's why you see threads complaining about bad GWFs, who just stand there and take it rather than dodging.

But as for the question, I'd say TR for single-target DPS and GWF for multi-target DPS. Both are fun, so it depends on your playstyle. Why not try each up to lvl 15 - 20 or so, to see for yourself which one you like the most?

Well my dps DC isn't really on the sidelines as the mobs like to come to her. TR is still strong despite the recent nerfs and that's not counting when you add weapon enchants in. If you like to avoid getting hit then I'd try the TR but if you like to also be able to take a beating GWF or GF would probably suit you better. It all comes down to playstyle :)

get a gf up in the conq tree and you will out dps everyone* AND you get to keep the threat (which is still your main priority)

since villains menace hits all targets (at leased i think it does) you will get everyones attention with that. with the added range and damage you get while using it you will be a killing machine

so if you want a class that can take a mean punch AND put numbers up onto the board theres only one choice.

*only time im not top damage is when its spellplague and youre knocking mobs off into the lava stuffs or when theres an exceptional tr geared extremely high

And to actually oneshot anyone with that Encounter power you need to use a Daily first. And if that actually fails due to defence buffs etz, they need to spam another encounter or at will, wich makes em sitting glass ducks. And having 0 Defence you don't really wanna sit still like that. If you're lucky you get a kill before you die. Not an optimal build without the right support.
