Yay. Another RNG box item. 7% more healing per second than the cleric though. I'd be interested if(and only if) I could buy it directly for Zen. As it stands, I'll wait for my Angel of Protection or the Companion scrolls.

Also this companion would be overkill if all its +20% damage proc stacked with others. So double damage with decent heals if everyone had one in a party.

Forget the healing - this is the important bit:
    Piercing Notes

Foes hit by Audio Drain are weakened and take 20% more damage.

Surely that can't be right because if so it is an incredible DPS boost...

Yes spend money to have 0.001% chance of getting something good and a 99.999% chance of getting tat is really quite close to being an online scam.

Unfortunately, it will never replace an ioun stone, no matter what. Lets see if this epic companion can make the first change!!!

Or you could, you know, check the AH prices, take into account AD:ZEN rate and decide if it is worth buying.....

It'll be right for as long as people dump real cash to buy them.

When that starts to dry up they'll change it 2% for "game balance" purposes.

    You know I'm right.

Nah. That's a lot more effort. I'll just assume that it'll sell for around a mill.

I don't know, it could be right, with a short duration and long cooldown- just look at how far apart the heals from the standard white cleric are, as an example. A 20% buff for five seconds every minute or so, for example, is hardly game breaking.

Load them up with recovery and they are much more often than that. :)

Considering how useful Professions are (beyond getting some extra dyes to play with [like me] and those with Astral Diamonds farms [not me]), I almost feel tempted to just try my luck with the elusive Armored Nightmare horsie instead.:p

If lucky, it would be easier to get this than to save ADs to raise my lvl 15 Cleric to 30 once Feywild hits (which I expect will be an abusive ADs sink). If not...

    That said, amazing model.:D

Assuming that their cooldowns are affected by recovery, which is never a foregone conclusion in this game :)

The interesting bit is the wording:
    Audio Drain

    7s cooldown, 30’range

    Deals Physical Damage

Deals damage over time to target foe and heals allies near the target for 1.4% of their maximum health with every tick.

    Piercing Notes

Foes hit by Audio Drain are weakened and take 20% more damage.

..which makes it look like Piercing Notes is a separate ability, but doesn't give duration, cooldown or anything else. Thus we're not really able to be sure how good/bad it is. Interesting.

Drat! I just spat coffee all over my keyboard!

Well, I needed a good laugh! But for Tymora's sake people! This is nothing but gambling, worse, it's gambling that's accessible to children. I'm pretty sure gambling for children is illegal in most countries.

I just don't know what else to say, this kind of stunt just boggles the mind! The law really needs to catch up with the Internet!

I agree.. it kinda annoys me to no end that they put good stuff into random boxes. Why not just put the new healer npc up for 3000 Zen ? In Korea and Japan it is now illegal to sell random loot boxes (to combat gambling addiction), unfortunately this is america where anything borderline immoral is legal.

Since I've not bought any, I don't even know what the booster packs cost. If they are pretty cheap then it might be worth buying a couple to try.

I think this is the attitude that Cryptic are hoping for. :(

It's a little more incentive to by a Professions Pack - via in-game currency.
But, I'd only give it 3 tries for the companion.

They cost 300 zen or $3 bucks a piece. I'm sure the chance for the companion would be something like 1%

OMG a purple healer companio O.O oh wait, i am DC whit a ioun stone. The only companion worth to use is the cat or the ion stone. All the other are simply trash that lure mob on dungeon.

I'm pretty sure no one anticipated this when they made this companion. Permanent HoT for everyone and a mega damage debuff. You don't even need to bother with clerics anymore! Who needs these guys anyway?

Oh I know it is...but I can almost guarantee that the booster packs are not in the price range I would consider attempting to gamble on.

Id be shocked to see a pet worth buying that isn't a very rare aug.

It doesn't even have a defensive slot.

I would speculate that the Piercing notes isn't unlocked until Rank 30.

It may just be an add-on effect to the Audio Drain, but listed as separate because it only becomes active later.

Pet is either game breaking or relatively pointless. Any takers on GPF stacking style game breaking? :D

Instead of selling the item directly. They offer the gambling option. Folks that can't afford to spend 3k-5k zen, might be able to afford enough for one or two booster packs. And many of the folks that can afford 3k-5k zen, will probably spend $ on buying the booster packs in larger volumes. Some of those will drop, and hit the AH, where there is a "fee" for the transaction. At which point, the players that can afford the big AD sink, but don't want to gamble, will still contribute to PW.

Doing it this way allows PW to get $ from more players demographics, and overall make more profit.

Its funny. Most people in america are terrified of China but their businessmen and American Businessmen practiclaly think alike.

Its not about treating the customer like a valued customer, its about debating how best to wring all their dollars out of their pocketses.
