A Few Thoughts on Improvements

Let me preface this by saying that I am mostly a casual player. I work long hours, and the time that I get spend in game can be a bit sporadic. I wanted to share a few thoughts on what I feel has been a very good overall gaming experience, with a few ideas on things that can be improved. Apologies if this is rehashing what others may have already discussed.

I love the fact that this game allows me to feel like I'm progressing, whether I have a few hours to run dungeons, or only a half hour to run through a few quests. Many other MMOs cater only to those who have little going on in life outside of the game. The Foundry instances offer a unique chance for players to show off their creative side. While the quality varies, there are some true gems out there, and the possibility for constant new content to explore is a nice change from the norm. I love that players are scaled together in level for PVP. In other games, I've had to either wait until I was within a level or two of the tier cap, or go in knowing that my role could only be to draw the other teams top level players away from the objective as bait. I never feel like I am grinding in NWO. Although early leveling can be a little too quick at times.

I'd like to see dungeon and PVP queues allow for new players to join when others leave. The last two dungeons that I ran wasted an hour or more each of my life as the healer and/or tank decided the final boss was just too hard and quit. I haven't been on the short end of the "my teammates dropped" problem in PVP, but I've been on the other side, and it's got to be frustrating for a team of 2 to be left facing 5.

I'd like to see some variety in armor. It's aesthetic, but it gets old to see that your shiny new blue drop from the dungeon looks almost (if not exactly) like that green drop you've been wearing for 6 levels.

Also, I thought that we were getting a new class (ranger I had heard). Is that not the case? There are some really cool classes in D&D and it feels like we only have the cookie cutter basic MMO classes so far. I know the ranger would be another of the same sort, but a good ranged dps would be nice for those not wanting to play a CW.

Are there plans to unlock the Drow through achievement or as an a la cart purchase? I don't mind paying for a class, but $199 for the Hero pack is a hefty price tag.

I know that crafting changes are coming, so I'll save my thoughts on that for after the Aug release. From what I've read, my issues there are exactly what will be addressed with the release.

Yes, they are still working on a new class. It will either be archery ranger or scourge warlock. Last word was that it will be released after module 1 but before the end of the year.

The Menzoberranzan Renegade is exclusive to the Hero pack. However the more generic Drow will be released 60 days after launch at the earliest and that one will be free to everyone.

Thanks for the info. That's good to hear. I've been having a lot of fun playing this game. The wife and I are likely canceling our subscription games since we're both always playing NWO during our free time these days.
