I think the thread title pretty much sums up what I want to say, and I bet you can all guess my exact feelings on the matter.... The quest had a good run, and was outrageously popular, but I was counting on it as a means to get plays for my latest map, so I'm kind of screwed now. I also don't get why the exploit map hasn't been taken down. Grr.. What some BS.
Taken down. It's still published, but because I put it in a Campaign it won't show up when you search my @handle.. And my quests won't group together under the Campaign banner like they are supposed to. I don't know what to do.
hmmm, not that i would know, but maybe since you made it part of a campaign it's like a new quest where it doesn't show up until after the weekly foundry update?
I'm pretty discouraged at this point. I may not have the stomach for this.
You have my sympathy. Been living in the void for some time now. It is a dark lonely place where nobody comes to play your quest. Well, almost nobody.

That sucks, they need to figure out where the quests go after they're no longer new. Right now they just go into the void.

I have been pleasantly surprised that my quest kept getting 20-40 plays/day even after disappearing into the 'void' (gone from new tab). After asking some of the reviewers, I learned that most of them found my quest through some Harper NPC that are in leveling zones. So some quests don't disappear completely, although I have no idea how do the Harpers work (obviously they don't just advertise best quests as I thought, because mine is nowhere near best tab). Now just to figure out what criteria does the Harper search use. (I am yet to find the Harper that advertises my quest to tell him to keep up the good work )

And yet when I PM'd you back in June to report a bug in your quest that meant it couldn't be completed, you told me I was wrong and left the bugged version up. I really hope that despite the silly banner you have added to your signature the real reason you have withdrawn Mind of Darkness is so it can be fixed. It deserves to be played.
I swear you authors are your own worst enemies at times.

I adjusted the NPC, but others have completed the quest since you sent me that message. Not to mention the sixty or so people that completed the quest before you told me about the quest breaking bug. I also played the quest to see what you were talking about and didn't experience the same problem you had. I don't know why that happened with you. Might have been a bug or something in a patch. I will eventually put my quest back out there, but not right now. The only plays it is getting right now are trolls. When I finish my second quest I will put it back out there. Hopefully once I add the second part to the campaign it will show up in the new list again.

My Part 1 has been out there a few longer than Wuhsin's C&K, and mine is still there. Both my quest get plays most days, usually around 3-5, sometimes more, as high as 10 on the weekends. They just keep ticking along.
Now, I had my "Campaign" created long before either Part 1 or Part 2 were created, and both parts were added to the Campaign list as soon as they were published.
I wonder if the problems Wuhsin is having id because the "Campaign" was created after the Quest?
Who knows, just an idea.
@Ovaltine74, I was really sad to see you had withdrawn MoD, it is a fantastic quest and I was looking forward to playing through again once my Pt 3 was finished (which seems less likely by the day actually).
My spellthief trials quest has been at 2970 plays for like 3 weeks now. I get reviews for it and I know it gets a few plays everyday but that number never rises. Not really the same issue but it goes to show that the foundry is just really really buggy.
Yes, I am also glad Ovaltine will be adding it again in future. It was very well written (despite the spoiler he inadvertently left us - hope that's been corrected too) and I was enjoying it immensely before being stopped in my tracks.
Unfortunately Ovaltine, as I am sure you well know, bugs can be intermittent. I wish you had written me as requested to let me know you had fixed the particular NPC so I could have completed. I was checking the editing date under the impression it would timestamp any corrections you made. Apparently then that is not the case.
I do think it's entirely possible (more likely probable) wuhsin's problem is caused by a foundry bug due to the switch to campaign, rather than any malicious intent. That doesn't excuse them for having so many bugs, but keep trying. Maybe you can fix it with some trial and error.
I will also add that Ovaltine's quest (Mind of Darkness) is one of the very best quests I've played on here, and there are a few I would love to play through again including that one. When Part 2 comes out I will play Part 1 again first to refresh it in my mind.
It was nice getting plays during the "new" phase and that well has definitely dried up to the point where I generally get 1-3 plays per day, if that. It's definitely frustrating, and they do need to do something about it, but keep in mind that there are hundreds, probably thousands, of other quests in the same boat. Once the search tool gets opened up, it will be better but people need to realize the competition for plays will still be fierce.

yes, this was my meaning also. i think because of the way it's combined and displayed into one under the 'campaign' banner that it takes going through the weekly foundry update to get it working. example; i've had gorbonthecobs first quest on my sub section and it was always there. that is, until he published the second one. then they both disappear. i can put the code in and get them, but i think he put them under campaign also so to it will take the update to form it and redisplay them.
could be wrong, but i'd bet after the update they'll pop back up again under their new form, campaign...

Oh, goodness. By the by, this post made me go and look at The Lost City in its own thread. You seem to be a complete decor nerd, everything looks very atmospheric. I'm tempted to take my baby GWF through as a break from levelling her. Thanks
If you got a campain with several quests and you add a new unpublished quest to you campain, all other quests will disapear from the "new" and "best" tab.
I had the same problem and found this bug by "trial and error".

All the quests in my campaign are published. I was told republishing one or both of them might solve the problem, but it hasn't. The campaign has gotten thirty to forty plays since I added the quests to it. So I'm at a loss here. Thanks for trying to help though.

If what you say is true, that pretty much proves that the quest removal was not done by an automated system, but a human intelligence. This suspicion kind of makes my blood boil, thinking someone could have scrolled past Gunba's Foundry, clicked my quest, and removed it. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but it was removed on a Monday, not Tuesday when the Foundry usually updates, and there is potential evidence that it was done manually.

Weeks ago when this happened to me I knew it was going to start happening to other authors. I hate that it happened to you, but at least now the pool of frustrated authors is growing. Perhaps once there are enough of us they will get around to fixing this issue.

Yeah. If us Foundry authors want to see any progress at all, it's obvious we're going to have to join together like Voltron in order to get the dev's attention.
I have only one quest in my campaign...has never shown up on any list...its why i hover around 60 plays...no one sees it.
Hopefully you'll have better luck with your next quest, or the one after that.. My first couple of quests bombed, and Zigby's First Strike isn't doing as well as I'd like, but you can't win them all. At least Campaigns & Kobolds had a good run. Nearly 400 reviews with an average rating of 4.1 ain't too shabby.

Why?
I am saying that the problem may have occurred because you created the Campaign slot in your Foundry after you had created the quests.
I first created the Campaign - Call Of The Wild, and then the Quest - A Missing Man.
So Cryptic's servers saw my Campaign, and assigned Short-Code to is before any of the Quests.
I'm thinking the problem may be related to linking a quest (2nd order event) to a campaign (1st order even) that has a later creation date than the Quest.
There's no hint at all in anything I said that suggest the necessary hand of a human agent.
This is an issue with campaigns. I made a new campaign to tie all my quest into and it took a week or more for the campaign to show up with the quests. The weird thing is that people were still playing the quests but I believe a campaign has it's own "plays" number it has to reach.
Its really confusing.
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.
