It would really help if the devs would lower the max to 30 people per instance in Protector's Enclave during this event. Right now, anyone who isn't a control wizard is at a disadvantage and when there are 20+ people at a portal, no one is really having fun.
The max is liek 50 people per instance already. At least 4 portals open during the event, so at most you'd have 12 or 13 people there if the instance is completely full (which from my experience last night and this morning, is rare). Realistically, it still seems some players don't know or don't care about this event, so the best idea is to go to a different, less popular portal when it opens.
I spent time last night down on Deekin St. and Corial St. and there were lots of people there. I moved up to the Shrine of the Gods this morning and there were far fewer (not to mention Protector's Enclave was liek, dead at the time I was there).
The worst part of this event is that this portal stuff is truly distracting me from crafting many, many pairs of pants.
They already lowered it from something like 125 to 75.
Also, I don't care what type of computer someone has, if people complaining about lagging are lagging, then drop your gfx settings all the way down. Yes, there was a patch that addressed memory leaks and performance today, but try to help yourself sometimes.

Yesterday when the event started it was at 150 and the they lowered it down to 75. I think that is a pretty good number for the event.
I thought I noticed last night that when I switched instances, the timing of the event changed as well. I swore that there were liek only a few minutes until the next portals opening, and I checked and my instance had become one of the more crowded ones, so I switched to the least crowded instance, and suddenly the portals were opening in 10 minutes. Is it possible the instances are offset in regards to the timing of the portals opening?
Just a curiosity, but it did not affect me while I was crafting many, many pairs of pants.
Oh, they lowered it? That's good news. Hope it stays that way. 150 was an overkill even during the non-event times (due to the amount of NPCs and companions). Especially dreadful for those with lower-end hardware.
Now, most other questing zones could easily see a max limit of players increase by 5 or 10, given the crazy respawn rates.

The event starts at the same time in every zone at the top and bottom of the hour.

You obviously didn't try the event.
When the portals close, everyone gets lagged to less than 1fps. I have an i7 2600 and GTX 670 and the same happened to me.

This was a bug with the portal effect. If you turned your graphics settings down so that you can't see the portal and you would not lag when it closes.

You don't seem to be listening to people. No, everyone does not get lagged to 1fps. I have a great computer myself, run on max settings most of the time. But was freezing at the portal close. I lowered one advanced setting (visual fx) from high to low and now I no longer freeze. I get to walk around and pick up my loot while everyone else is standing still.
Is it a problem with the portal closing effect? Obviously. But if you change your settings it shouldn't stop you anymore. Until they get it fixed, this is a work around. They may have already in the mornings patch. Not tried setting it back to high yet. *Others are saying its already been fixed anyway.*
Its been at 75 per instance since yesterday and portals are still too crowded. On Mindflayer all instances have 60+ players and the majority are at portals.
Late night, when there were only 20 per instance you got around 5 people at each portal and it was reasonable.

Oh I didn't try it? I guess those 29 bones I got last night just magically appeared. Like I said, I don't care what your PC is running, but just for you, I have an i7 920 with an HD4870. There were at least a few times that I had ZERO lag issues during the events. Of course these occurred after a reboot to clear the memory leak. Maybe try actually being as "pro" as you think you are before talking.

I got the title. That's all I care about. It is goofy, players standing directly in the portal, spamming aoe with a clear advantage over others. Guess it's too late now.

The patch this morning fixed that issue.
