I'm sure there have been posts about this already....so no need to troll this post and give me HAMSTER for it...But will the Drow race be available to everyone after the game is officially launched? and How many character slots will we have available to us? I do really hope it's more than the 3 I have now....

They said they will release the drow race 60 days after... well, I suppose 60 days after OB start
Not sure if it's gonna be the same as the renegade that comes with HoTN

I've read in several places that Drow are coming for everyone 60 days later. Some say 60 days after beta launched and others say 60 days after live launched. Not seen anything official on it.

Non-Founders only get 2 slots to start out with. However character slots are one of the more reasonable priced things in the store. They run 2 slots per 500 Zen. I really can't imagine them giving away any slots while they are already selling them so cheap.

I think the character slots will be limited to what they are now. I mean, this is pretty in line with most other F2P MMOs.

As for Drow, there have been statements a while ago that the store will never charge for content including races and classes, and will only have cosmetic and convenience items. Don't have the link though.

And as far as I'm aware, it's not significantly different from Renegade.

So people paid 200 dollars for a drow that'll be released in two months and 2million AD that are devalued? Seems like people got ripped off.

There was a lot in the package, and the drow that are being released to the general public are not the same visually at least (nor obviously are their backgrounds). Just same stats/racials (we assume).

The character slots are fairly standard, and one of the few things they can charge rlc for that people won't label ptw.

They knew the deal. AD hasn't been "devalued" as it can't hit more than 500:1 in terms on conversion. That's the "cap value" and actually, 80% of Founders AD was spent during the first days where the conversion rates had these sums. Mind that 6000 players started with 2 million in their pockets, 5 days before vanilla launch. You think they had low rates then?

Also, the Drow race being launched for free after 60 days was something said for a long time. In fact, I didn't like the idea, but hey, I can't do much about it. So I'm patiently waiting. What do you want, a year before the rest can play the Drow so it pays off? :P

The playerbase is under the impression that new classes/races will be free, however you will need to purchase the character slots. Its F2P but they have to make a profit somewhere.

Actually the racials was one of the things listed as different. The regular drow get Darkfire and the renegades from the pack get Fairie Fire. I think the renegades also had special tattoo options or something.

Oh I see, but why would you want to convert it? Wouldn't it have been easier if they just gave you the other? Honestly I don't know what AD is used for and have no care for it. But I thought things got devalued with that inflation thing everyone was crying over.

It's not the renegade drow that's being released, that's still unique to HOTN.
Just your normal drow elf. No one was ripped off in any way shape or form.

When you consider the issues Drizzt had for a LONG time after leaving the Underdark for the world above, one of the Drow racials should be increased merchant/ah costs.

Wouldn't the Orc, and Teifling also suffer this increased cost? What if the merchant loves drow but hates humans :P should add in random merchants who hate random races and classes :P

AD is quite useful. It is used to bid/buy things from the AH. And many other things. (Identify scrolls, upgrading mounts, some companions, speeding up companion training and professions) And you can trade AD for Zen to buy stuff from the Zen shop.

From what I've heard darkfire is functionally the same as faerie fire though. But I don't know that anyone's actually seen/tested a 'normal' drow.

Aww so that's why AH never works for me.
