How are the dialogues handled if there is a party doing quest?

Do they all see the dialogues? The one who ends dialogue first progress whole party to next objective? How does it look like?

If the dialogue gives quest item, will they all need it, or the one who finishes conversation first gets it, and only he can proceed the whole party further?

Only 1 person see's the dialog and whoever gets the item has to do any steps that require that item.
