The Shards?

I was wondering, is the Shards connected to each other? If I'm on Beholder and a friend ends up on Dragon can we play together? I know there's some MMORPGs out there like that, or are they like WoW and EQ, etc?

    Nope you can't play with others between shards. There are rumours that the shards are meant to all be merged together at some point, but to be honest I haven't really looked that far through the forum to confirm if this is true or not.

    That seems odd tho. After all this is Cryptic Studios and both their other games, Champions Online and Star Trek Online are on one big server each. Figured Neverwinter would be the same.

    You cannot group with or send in game mail to characters on other shards. But you can chat with them. In fact, you can chat via @handle to anyone playing CO, STO, or on any NW shard.

    Also note that if you claim bonus AD or one-per-account founder's items they cannot be moved to another shard once claimed.

    is there an easy way to find what shard you created a char on? I kinda created chars on differing shards cause the forums said it doesn't matter, you should be able to hop wherever. Silly me for paying attention to the forums.

    It says what shard your character is on on the character selection screen when you log in.

    ah, since I only have gateway access till I am out of work, that kinda sorta is annoying, but nbd.

    But can you select which shard you create on at character creation time like other mmos?
    Sorry Sat is my first beta of this game.

    You can, but as I picked randomly, I am hoping none of my chars that I pulled AD on are on the RP server. Not really into RP currently.
