Ok for starters there are spoilers in here. You have been warned.
I have played a bit of this and "Oh god not you again" Relax hear me out. So I played for a bit and I got to say I like it so far. The quests are simple but fun there is no weekly lockout it is long and has a lot of stuff and while I normally hate a massive "town" hub this one is done right. Everything is around floor 1 you can see them from the bar and there is more then one way into the well to prevent player blocking. And gods help me I love that when I was getting blocked from going in I just said "f it" and jumped in the well and that worked. Not only worked but gave me a gem for doing it. It made me jump into every hole I found and I died laughing when I died jumping in the one and it said "Well what did you expect?"
I love gear is more simple now making it so classes can use other armors (I all ways loved the platemail look but could never use it because I was forced to chain only.) but it is a little odd that plate does not give more def then chain and chain more attack. The new powers ui is a lot better The fact I can trade in enchanting for other enchanting is great I love as well you can get any and all (like trading in for plagefire one that was lost to us for a long time.) And guys I got to give you this. When I saw that dragon with the sword in it get turned into a chicken and not only was it a custom model but there was a mini sword in the chicken's head was the best. You could have easily done generic chicken number 5 for what I can tell is a 1 off but you did not and I love that.
I also love that dispite I don't have the best gear and despite the fact the new place is a up to level 80 I am going on level 78 and still have not had to change my gear because I am doing fine. The new ally system is great as well as you can truly swap out to who ever you want. I dusted off my old ioa stone boosted stats high and gave a lot of close to ally skills and my power grew to really good levels in a fight. The NPCs. My gods even the most annoying ones I love them so much. Heart of fire and that one leader guy was NPC done very very very wrong and every last one of them was A-holes but even the A-holes in undermounten I love because they have a good reason. Even the bad guys can at least fall onto "Well du I am evil" The story so far is pretty good to but still has a few of them neverwinter plot holes.
So all the good there is some meh and a few disappointing things. Love the new ally system but am dissaponted that I can't mix and match. The way it sounded was I could pick an ally's look then skill set. (Like take the ioa stone but give it an attack or the dog shoot fire ball or call down siege boulders.) The expeditions are kind of a meh but I love you do not have to meet a minimum quota of magic items you can just say screw it and go right threw without looking giving you the choice how much you want to engage giving you better (but not required) rewards the more you find. Another meh is despite everything my person has done the quests I done the apocolips I stopped my person seems dumber then a brick still. "Quick the litch dropped the staff we need to get. Lets stand here for 30 seconds staring at it while a portal slowly opens the bad guy casualty walks out monologues a little then walks off with it."
I think it would fit better there if we tried to grab it but an explosion surged out of it sending us flying back. We also never seem to get any mention of what we have done. I get it other demintion and all that but you mean to tell me out of all those people there not 1 person has heard about the legendary hero that banished tiamat killed dimogorgon war with the elemental evil went toe to toe with valendra brought terror onto the ascendancy leveled ravian loft led to the extinction of the dinosuars and more? Ya I know it is only a ego stroke but every time I go to a new place and everyone is just "Oh hello random nobody that is clearly nothing special about you do this. Wow you made that look so easy maybe you are special." I just feel like it is pointless for me to keep trying because I have to keep proving myself. Think about it like this you win a contest that pays you 100 every week. But every week you have to prove it is you by bringing in a new code sent to you by email threw a random account that will dissapear in 24 hours and will show up any time between munday and sunday between 6am and 6am. It gets annoying and tedious. Yes great I proved myself. For the 50th time. Can we please skip this now? But not the fish people one. That was kind of fun.
It is also kind of a "meh...." that I can't trade up enchants. When I got done trading in everything I had like 99+ dual level 5 enchant coins (What can I say I am a hoarder) but I can't trade up So I am just sitting there with coins I might never use. Maybe have it so for every 10 you can trade up. so if I have 10 dual level 5 enchant coins I can trade them up for 1 level 6 dual.
Oh ya I also forgot. It is great that so few random nobody enemies have the "Even if immune control the player" tag because it gives the eh formally known as GFW class better survivability. It is also great they and quest nodes re spawn so fast. I can't tell you how many A-hole players would wait let me get into a fight for the quest node for them to run in activate it then run off leaving me to fight or letting me get into a fight wait then tap the monster last second getting the kill and then those same people getting pissed off threatening me when I return the favor. No really I got a death threat today by a player I ran in and took their quest item from while they was fighting and this was after they did this to me and when we both fought together and could get 1 node each I let him have one and they was following me around trying to kill me in game when I took the other.
