Tales of Old -- Great, but... CRASH!

I'm incredibly frustrated.

When I first ran this Tales of Old dungeon, I was excited. It was fun to see the old dungeon once more. And the mechanics felt a bit more like classic D&D (or, at least, classic Neverwinter); the various party roles were more traditional, and there was none of the "getting knocked off a platform" or "don't kill the boss too quickly" dynamics that have plagued current end-game boss fights. It was fun (and rewarding!) to explore side passages. And, hey, that chest wasn't a Mimic the last time I was in here!

But then... the game crashes. Though I made a couple of successful single-runs and double-runs, I've yet to get through more than a double without someone in the party crashing. Even if the rest of the party could go ahead and finish, it's incredibly unfair to deny re-entry and rewards because of game crashing.

The most painful of these happened to me this morning. I was in a great pick-up group. We were melting through things easily. We took time to explore and pick up power-ups. Things were just plain FUN. With plenty of time and lives on the clock, we decided to go for our 5th and final run-through. But just as we were approaching the ramp up into the final cave with the dragon... crash. My screen froze. Had to restart the game. Which means all that work was unrewarded... and that was a LOT of reward to lose.

Some bugs have workarounds. Some aren't a big deal. This one? This bad design? It's unacceptable. Frankly, I can't remember the last time the game crashed on me. I run a very stable system with great connection. But the crashes have happened three times since this event began, and I've suffered the penalty for it.

Honestly, it's hard to get excited about even attempting it one more time. And that's a shame. Here's hoping Cryptic recognizes the problem, ADMITS to the problem (which would be refreshing!), fixes the problem (which would be appropriate), and then extends the event by however many days it takes them to fix the problem (which would be professional and considerate to those of us who've been stung by the game's instability).

Can't even disconnect for a micro second. Why did they let this get through. Seems like they don't care to fix this before the weekend.

Well I guess a massive chunk of people are simply screwed then.

Yeah, got randomly disconnected as we approached the dragon (right on the ramp) at the end of run #3. Got my rewards, but couldn't rejoin the group, and as I was the DC, they didn't get far in run #4.

Here is my sad, lonely cleric sitting alone in PE, disconnected by lag-spikes, unable to return to the party...

At the start of the 4th round! ARRRRRRGH! Painful.

I was an optimistic supporter of this event concept, tested for hours on preview to support it.
    But I'm done with it.
Not running it again until I hear it is fixed and many people have run it without issue.
