Training Runestones Bug?

I'm not 100% sure this is a bug, but it might be.

I just picked up and activated 2 new companions, but 1 has a Rank 7 Training Runestone on it and the other has a Rank 8 Empowered Runestone on it. Shouldn't the one with the Training Runestone have more XP? Granted neither are my summoned companion but I don't know if that makes a difference.

    Only the summoned companion earns XP unless you have the proper VIP rank. If you have the VIP rank, the summoned will earn full XP and the non-summoned a percentage.

    OK. That explains why they are gaining the same XP. Thanks.

    I never realized that about VIP, VIP rank 2: All active companions earn 20% XP (summoned earns 100%). I am guessing the training runestone only works on a summoned companion although the tool tip does not state that is a requirement.

    I can tell you for sure that it does not. And I'm sure the tool tip was wrote long before VIP came out and so they probably didn't think about updating it since no other Runestones are active unless the companion is summoned. Now that I think about it in this discussion.
